Door weatherstripping is a thing.

Just got out of prison and am buttoning up my mom's space she built. I was an outdoor guy so had no real idea. Joined these forums for help, learned nothing. Bought 3 of everything. Literally everything. This is a flew market industry...

Well I don't do pawn shop grows. And I don't like lookijg

Trash software you guys got here! Let's see if I can finish the post without smashing one of the hidden buttons actively lurking under the keyboard...

I was able to grab this kit for $18 due to some scratches. I had matching paint markers on hand.

This will give you the same seal quality as modern entry doors.

Do NOT attempt the following types of seals. This was not the first weatherstripping kit installed on this door. It was the first install that functioned however.

Bottom sweep is cut and ground at ~45° meeting the inner edge of the weatherstripping. Instead of dragging the carpet, I've installed a new Z bar and cut a threshold (notpictured) to wedge and raise the carpet at the sill rather than hammering the Z bar down, for a tight seal.

Prototype sill plate holds carpet well

Needed extra padding behind the tack strips at the corners to be 100% light proof,99% air proof, 99.9% bug proof. But now it is. And no duct tape.

Those bottom things never work right on carpet. Tile or a 3 x 3' hard plastic floor cover to give it a smooth place to slide on IMO.

As an ex-outdoor guy you need to adapt to airflow. That room will need an air inlet. I use a 20 x 25" filter and a carbon fabric layer to block light and odors, put it right in the door. The room / or tent will need to have the air pumped outside the house, because of the humidity. I cut in an 8" wall fan for that. Mom won't mind. Or get a AC unit that free stands in the room but pumps it's heat outside through an attachment for the window. That will help control temps, humidity, and exhaust air.

You will need to beef up the electric circuits, or Mom will get pissed when the house burns down. It's not 15 amp per outlet if they are all on the same breaker.
