DONATION'S HIGH TURNS INTO A LOW

I couldn't believe this shit!!

The Donor of Free Soil to a School Garden Is Revealed As a Medical Marijuana Dispensary.

A free truckload of soil for a Santa Barbara school's new vegetable garden should have been something to celebrate. But when officials discovered the donation's source, it turned into a total bummer.

"We had no idea that a medical marijuana dispensary was in any way connected to a donation of soil for a community garden," the Santa Barbara County Education Office said in a written statement Wednesday. "We would not have accepted the donation had we known that was the case."

The founder of Green Well, the month-old, city-permitted, nonprofit marijuana business that made the delivery to El Puente School, said he was trying only to be good neighbor.

"We thought it would be a good fit," said James Lee, a former business consultant. "We want to be part of the solution, not the problem."

In January, an AmeriCorps volunteer at the school for troubled students solicited donations for the garden in a local newspaper. Lee responded, telling her explicitly, he said, about his dispensary.

"It didn't raise any flags," he said Tuesday.

But school officials said he never mentioned marijuana, stating instead that he represented "a nonprofit that had associations with a landscaping business," said Wendy Shelton, a spokeswoman for the county education office.

A truck bearing the name of a local landscaping company arrived at the school Tuesday morning -- along with TV cameras.

Lee had sent out a news release about the donation, which included sacks of bat guano and earthworm castings.

On Tuesday, the landscaping company disavowed any connection with Lee, saying an "unauthorized" person had used its truck.

School officials said they would return his dirt.

"We'd rather get soil from reputable soil people," Shelton said.

As for Lee, he said he would handle future civic-minded efforts differently.

Pathetic.

These people should be cleaning toilets, they're obviously not skilled enough to tend a garden.

I joined this collective recently and the dude told me they were going to donate the soil to the school. You could tell that he was excited to give back and I got the feeling that these guys really want to help out in the community. Too bad it was thrown back in his face.

When they opened a month ago they were charging 65 an eighth...now they have a 50 cap. They say its because more people joined and so now they can drop the prices. This is a non profit collective where all profits go to community services or back to the members....very cool.

this is the same mentality that makes the Taliban in Afghanistan cut the arms off of little children if they were vaccinated by foreign aid workers. "try to avoid disease, huh! i'll teach YOU..." :dunno: the Viet Cong did the same thing in SE Asia. dig a village a clean water well, they poison it. they would rather see their neighbors children DIE as allow us to save them. same thing is going on right now in Somalia. fucking morons...

Pure bigot prejudice is what it is. If it was a local liquor store chain Bevmo, I bet they'd be soooooooooo happy. Bunch of uneducated hypocrites..........

I bet that soil is waay better than the landscaping company's soil too lol

I mean, if somebody who grows weed professionally wants to give you gardening supplies, just accept them. It's good stuff.

Grow Clean.... Go Fast!
On Tuesday, the landscaping company disavowed any connection with Lee, saying an "unauthorized" person had used its truck.

WTF? So they are alleging that he STOLE the truck to donate his soil somehow?

I like how the moment that there is a little "negative" press that everyone wants to walk away instead of standing up for what they originally thought was right.... unbelievable!:puke:

I know I've had plants sprout out of piles of used dirt. More than once. You know you dropped a seed or one that didnt germ the first time did the second. Could end up in a slightly hairy situation. But on the other hand they're fucking idiots for turning down a growers soil. We probably put more love in our mixes than anybody else ever would.
