Dolomitic Lime questions

Hey Guys:
Quick question. The ph in my soil is too low (due to peat) the girls are well established in their new pots. I can get down maybe 2-3 inches before hitting roots... should I mix dolomitic lime (granular) into the top 3 inches of soil? How much lime should i putting into the soil? Or should I water with dissolved lime. If so, how much lime per gallon?
The ladies arent too bad, but the ph coming out is around 6.2
Any help would be mucho apreciated.

unless they are showing signs of deficiency leave things be 6.2 water in soil isnt so bad

This is just about where I am too, I have some moms in soil that were originally put in rockwool; most show run-off at 6.1-6.2, but some are down around 5.9! I was wondering about adding dolomitic lime to the topsoil as well...good idea or no?

Soil is a great PH buffer and the acidity levels indicated are well within the tolerable range for canna.

If your plants are showing problems, it's probably something other than PH. If they're not showing problems, then be aware that fussing over plants and doing too much is the no.1 reason beginner growers end up hurting their plants and final yields. If you'd added the lime, your grow would have probably been in serious trouble now.

So just kick back, patiently observe, and learn to give the plants what they're asking for. If it ain't broke.....

OKay sorry guys I was out for the night.
I should clear up a couple things so you all have the neccesary information.

They are in 5 gallon pails. 2 Big Bang Fem from greenhouse.
The plants started showing a couple leaves with spots and some with the margins slightly brown(dead) on a few leaves.Purple stems as well. A couple days later drooping, twisting and yellowing of the tips on new growth. I have a professional grade ph tester so i tested runoff. Tap water going in was 7.3 runoff 6.1-6.2 on both buckets respectively. I assumed it was Mg deficiency due to lockout? Possibly calcium?
I just assumed (now you know what they say about assumptions..) that the peat was breaking down and causing ph to drop.
Its not THAT bad, but I think its only going to get worse.
*note* Upon investigation i found the bag of soil had no added lime to it :S

oh temps are mid 70s i barely water the damn things, the leaves feel kinda dry and I think the two are alittle slow growing.

Would a foliar feed of lime tea help out?
thanks again!

goto your cities website and verify the ph of your water if you can find it. If not then call the local hydro ponic store and ask them what the ph of the water is. It should be 7 most of the time. It sounds like your meter is miss reading and the real PH and your runoff is 5.7 or so.

You should be mixing 2 tbs of powdered dolomit per galon to help bring the PH up in LC's organic mix.
