Alright things seem better at the moment...but I'm gonna give it a few days...
I removed the google toolbar, and that seemed to help, but I did a couple other things too so maybe it wasn't just the toobar.

Thanks to all the friendly folks for your help :D

Yeah BigT damn near ALL of those toolbars are network leaches. I neaver install em unless I have to in order to install another app and am forced to. Then I strip it out afterward.

I also Ctrl + Alt + Del occasionally to see what all is running.

Run Malware bytes in safe mode then follow up with Superantispyware in safe mode. Run CC cleaner and the registry scanner built into CC cleaner.Check your lan settings in internet explorer tools. Make sure they are all unchecked. Also check your host file (using notepad) and make sure only your IP address is there and not multiple. Rough outline....Check back once done.

the only virus i get is a "No Subject" spam that goes through my email contacts shooting them some porn.

I had to delete my email contacts.

No man no porn on my computer anymore....learned that lesson a few years back so I avoid the porn like a virus...which it usually is.

I used a trail version of Auslogics BoostSpeed 5 it was real good. You might have a bunch of junk files that need deleted and registry files that needed fixing.
Good Luck

Not quite sure how I fixed it, but it seems to be fixed. :dunno:
I'm very glad to hear that :)

For what it's worth, browser toolbars are usually teh evil, especially in Internet Explorer. I'm not bashing IE (this time), I'm simply stating the fact that there are far more pesky toolbars available for that browser than any other, and many of them are a nuisance at best. Even the developers of ones that are not malicious may make assumptions about what is acceptable behavior for a plugin that are way out of line.

Whether that was part of the problem or not, it's best to get rid of any toolbars/plugins/helpers/etc. that don't provide concrete and useful functionality.

Figured it out. My spyware protection was only scanning stuff under 4mb. I set it to scan every file regardless of size and it removed 4 files that were just pure malware.

I have been seeing an uptick in my computer browser freezing after visiting certain sites, including ICMag, CrooksandLiars, HuffingtonPost, CannabisCulture, etcetera. This didn't used to happen, and still does not when I have Javascript turned off. I hate to sound like a conspiracy nut, but sometimes when the paranoid say that someone is after them, it's true. Considering how pervasively nosy Stasi Big Sister has become, and which websites seem to cause the most trouble, it's not so hard to put 2 + 2 together .... my $00.02.

I have a Mac, running OS X and Safari on the PPC platform. I can force Safari to quit and restart, or in the worst case scenario reboot my system, and my computer always tests clean for viruses, malware, or spyware. Whatever is happening is staying in dynamic memory, and not getting written to the hard disk (so far). I suspect that Intel-based Macs, with an entirely different Boot Prom, may be at risk regardless of the OS used.

Toolbars, expecially Google are a headache waiting to happen. I always decline any offer to add a toolbar to my desktop as I have had problems before.
Glad you got it figured out.

I also wanted to let anyone who is looking at BigTex's crosses know, they are some really good stuff.

Have run the White Russian and the WRxBB and both were top notch-both in growth and in smoke.

That BB male must really have been a stud, the WRXBB had a very nice berry aroma and smoke.

Got a pack of the BT SkunkxBB and the GFxBB in the vault waiting their turn in the garden.

Don't sleep on these people, a bargin at the going prices for sure.

Thanks for putting these up again.

Check your start up, if your infected with a virus then it will be in the start up. Also, AV don't mean shit. Virus' can be encrypted (Fully Undetected) so they don't show up on AV, scantime & runtime.

download the ubuntu OS and bin windows, puts a stop to all that virus/malware crap straight away! Its free, and is a lot more secure than windows. That and most virus's and malware are written for windows, ubuntu is a linux based operating system so it won't understand the crap thats written to attack windows machines. Another plus is that any software you need is free, and you can tell Bill Gates to poke it!!
