Does taking cuttings reduce final yield?

If I take a one or two cuttings from a plant, will I reduce that plant's final yield? Or given sufficient time will it regenerate the branch? I hate the idea of losing what could become a primo bud producing stem.

Well if you take off lower branches you won't lower your yeild at all. As the plant will concentrate it's energy on the branches that's left.

Plus think of the whole new plant that you've created and the future yeild off of that one or two or three you get the idea. Best of lucl to you.

yeah, it shouln't be a problem, for reasons stated above and fewer lower branches means less popcorn buds to trim.

Great! I will try taking some cuttings off the lower branches instead. From what I had read, I thought that I was supposed to take clones from the top of the plant. I did not want to do this if I could avoid it. Hopefully the lower cuts will still clone well. Actually I have been thinking about training it LST style. Maybe I can take my cuts from the underside? Thanks for all your help!

even if you d take the clonbes from the top, the plant will simply recover and carry on growing from the 2 tips below where you cut....if you do it right. ever time you take a clone, you make way for 2 more to grow in its place.
wherever you cut, its best to make sure the stem if of a decent thickness and is quite stiff, but still supple and not woody...the woody things take forever to root, if at all.

hey there ainsley mctree, I took a few clones from the "underside" of these bmr and sensi stars.

The "upside" seems to be O.K.

They are my first clones that have rooted .

Looking forward to putting them under my screen. good luck a. mctree :joint:

Hell ya, Nice Scrog x2

You have the right idea, I have finally figured it out after a few grows. Now I trim off everything from the lower 2/3 or so of the branch before I flower the plant (good place to take clones from as you discovered)

The lower buds don't get enough light, etc, they come out so small it isn't even worth the trouble of manicuring them in order to get a nug that you require three or four of just to load a decent sized bowl...

The plant takes the energy it would have allocated to that little bitty worthless bud, and focuses it towards the tops, making your colas bigger and denser. I believe if you trim off all the popcorn buds, that overall your yields will be better because all the energy is focused towards the larger buds that have better light intensity, etc.

popcorn buds = better bubble hash :kos:

You can take clones from the top, but you should allow the girl a few weeks to recover. AND Ive found that it does reduce final yield in a sog.

Thanx, but it's 5 plants pushed under the screen after they had shown sex. My next round will be a true scrog with 3 sensi star and 1 blue moon rocks all clones from the above round. Should be fun. :woohoo: :joint:
