Does seed size affect overall plant size?

Are plants started from smaller seeds smaller overall than plants started from bigger size seeds or not?

lets say we have two seeds from same variety..
one normal size another one 2 times smaller in size..

will there be in the end one plant just a little bit bigger/normal seed/ overall than the other/2 times smaller seed/? /same lights nutes etc./
maybe will try to do side by side experiment one day on this..
but if the size difference is like 10% or lower its not important right..

Have you really seen that much variation in two seeds from the same variety, unless the smaller one was just a little white one?

Not a lot of variation, you are right. But I was using a 1/8 inch screen and would say only about 10 % of viable looking seeds feel through. I was thinking the 90% would be better biased on size. But this is why I was wondering this as well. Is there a possibility of gems in the smaller size assuming they germinate or are they due to be left behind because they are smaller?
I will test this as well next season but would love to hear from others with experiance.

I know there can be big differences between seed size among strains, and very small seeds can become very big plants.

Seed size has zero affect on plant size.

Seen small seeds from NLD plants and fat ones from wld plants.

There is a relationship but not a hard and fast one. I have seeds that are 12 to one gram as well as seeds that are 800+ to one gram. I consider normal seeds to be about 50-60 to one gram. In general the smallest do yield smaller plants but Haze is 75 to one gram and can produce several pounds per plant. It is not so easy to make general statements but I do see the very smallest which are maybe true wild varieties, also yield smaller plants and yield, they are not high in THC anyway so I am not sure they matter to most people. I have seen many small WLD and big NLD.

That is great info.
But the OP's question was biased on seeds of the same strain.

Is there a difference in growth patterns between the largest seed and the smallest from the same plant? I guess this is hard to answer as different pheno's are present as well. But are more mutants found in the smallest seeds because maybe they did not have time to develop fully but are still viable.

I say no.

I have grown big plants from tiny Sativa seeds and short plants from much larger Indica seeds.

Then again the Highland Thai I've grown has huge seeds and they will become very tall if planted in lots of soil.

my limited experience has shown smaller, mature seeds to more likely to be female

Bingo, being a strain sampler myself who never pops the full pack I always germ the smallest seeds. I do this on the advice of a guy who grows a thousand plants a year. This was his observation over time- more females in the smaller seed.:tiphat:

It’s probably more of a situation of the fitness of the seedling and the strength it has from the time of germination. Once it gets established there shouldn’t be much difference. (In reference to seed size of the same variety.) The bulk of a seed by weight is endosperm, the seedlings nutrition.

I'm glad you said that. I was afraid it was another one of my personal hallucinations :blowbubbles:

Seeds from a single clone can be different in size depending on several factors.
#1 Plant size, tiny, tiny, flowered plants give smaller seeds.
#2 If a large plant is early and very lightly seeded the seeds will be bigger.
#3 If the same clone, same size is flowered and bombed with pollen you will get way more seeds, some will be white, many will be smaller. The plant is dividing its energy to make more seeds.
#4 Environment can alter seed size a bit like cold or to hot or not enough nutrients etc.
