does mulching prevent oxygen getting the the roots?

how important is oxygen getting to the roots while the plant is small and vegging(would it be detrimental to its growth)?

I would say that oxygen to the roots is quite important, thats why you need the perlite and the vermiculite, arid soil means good drainage, and that my friend is the the basics of a healthy root system

I use mulch & have noticed that roots will grow right into it. I do aerate by carefully punching holes in the soil, fluffing up the mulch. I use Organics Alive to help repair any root damage & it works great. I also use seltzer water for the extra co2 once in awhile during flowering. I like to use straw as it's cheap & basically inert.
