Does high efficiency furnace vent room air outside?

The place i moved to has a high efficiency furnace. It has what looks like intake and outake pvc tubes coming out of it, and venting to the exterior. If i have plants in the basement, will this unit carry smell to the exterior?

The return duct for the house hvac system is in the room i made, I am debating sealing up any cracks in or around it anyways, because i dont want it sucking up my grow air and venting it up into the house, or outside.

I just got a new h/e furnace. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary outside. my girls get real stinky about week 6/7. but I have an awesome filtration, so there is no smell in my grow area, nor anywhere else in the building im at.

no, the pipes bring fresh air in and exhaust combusted air out so it should not interact with your basement air.
