Does anyone know of a sump pump that will fit in the 6" hole on the top of an 275 gal

I would really like to avoid cutting a hole in the top of my tote since it has a nice screw cap for the 6" hole.

My pump is like 6.25 inches. So close but not going to work.

Thanks in advance.:tiphat:

Edit: 275 gallon IBC tote

Marine depot has a bunch of pumps my 400gph is far less than 6" wide. Marine grade pumps work best for continuous submersion. Pop a timer and bam, automation or u can do a float valve.

3rd ... if you've got the drain on the side bottom why are you worried about a sump pump ? i know you need to clean it first , but can't you just lift the non drain end up & drain it out that way .... by hose or just out on the ground ?
when its cleaned & ready to use just adapt a 1/2 horse pump or the like to the drain to get the water into the barn .
no ???
the 1/2 horse swimming pool pumps can be adapted & they're meant for outdoor use .could even use the sand filter from a pool to filter the water before it hits the storage drums .

just an idea

Thanks, I'm just using the tote for storage so will need to pump to a couple 55's once a week.

Already done that dans. I put about twenty gallons of soapy water in it and rolled it around like a dice. Got every surface hit with the soapy water. It's a start. Still greasy but at least it's food grade sunflower oil...

If you can't find a pump to fit don't put one in. Hook a hose to the drain line at ground level, with an inline pump pushing/pulling the water.

You want a submersible aquarium pump. It can either be adapted to the outlet on the tote or submerged within. I like the Supreme Danner/ Pondmaster line, but there are other good less expensive brands. In pond & aquarium applications, they're often run continuously for years.

Pumps-

Adapters-

The linked aquarium supply outfit has never let me down. A 700 or 950 pump will def fit through a 6" hole, give good delivery if there's not much vertical lift or long small hoses. They carry other brands as well.

with an razor knife I cut a 1 foot round hole on top of mine.bought a nice cap from a tank store, siliconed it in.i had two pumps in there.one for 24/7 circulation.one hooked up to the drip system.a bigger opening made made cleaning between every few runs faster.having a white tank lets the algae grow faster.if you buy a used tank make sure its cleaned out good.any kind of gunk or oil will be a pain to clean.

For an inexpensive pump I like the EcoPlus series which work also as an in line pump, having a threaded inlet port. Many of these submersible aquarium style (hydro stores seem cheaper) pumps are a long rectangular shape, but half of that is taken up by the foam filter attachment which snaps off to leave you a squat box which might fit easily through the 6" hole.

For a sump pump, if you live close to a Harbor Freight you should take a look inside. They carry an assortment of affordable sump pumps.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

The tote I got has a 3" valve not the 2". I did not find any 3" to garden hose caps like you can find for the 2".

Went with an inline sump, 6' hose goes in tank and 25' hose reaches all my rez's.

I only store fresh water in the tote so algae worries.

ocean runner pumps have a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inlet and can be ran out of the tote if you find the right valves kinda spendy but i have had one for ten years now still running
