Does anybody up the dosage for the fox farms feeding schedule ?

Surely those schedules play on the safe side, with their recommended dosages don't they ?

Aren't the recommended dosages just averages for an average plant ? What if you have a strain that needs more food or can take higher nutes ? What if your plant is bigger than a 'single cola' plant, and has many bud sites because it was LST'ed or trained ?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm slightly unhappy with the current bud development of my two plants. I have many small budsites, but none of them are really as developed as I'd like them to be yet. I'm on day 22 right now since switching to 12/12. The only thing I can compare this grow to is my previous first grow, and the buds were more developed and more connected by day 22.

I was thinking about giving the plants higher dosages of tiger bloom and big bloom with the next feeding and see what happens. I'll take the risk of nute burn, etc. So far, the plants seem healthy.

I'm just wondering how common is it for people to give higher dosages than recommended, as long as the plants can take it and they don't show any signs of nute burn ? If it'll make my buds bigger, then it's worth it to try out I think. Also, the soil I'm using now is slightly less rich than the previous soil I used, so it would kind of make sense to feed it more.

I guess you don't remember me, we're growing the same strain (though from different breeders), Northern Lights. You've been in my journal before, and I've been in yours.

Things are coming along alright, the plants look healthy and all, it's just that I'm not happy with the bud development so far.

I'm growing in soil, I suspect that the soil I transplanted into when I did the final transplant into 5 gallon buckets is pretty weak (MG - organic potting soil + some added perlite and dolomite lime), so that's why I was thinking about upping the dosages of the fox farms nutes. I water about every 4 days, that's when the plants tell me that they're thirsty on average, and that's pretty much the same thing that I did on my first grow, and those buds turned out fine.

My two plants have plenty of bud sites, but I'm waiting on them to fill up some more, maybe I'm just being impatient, but I do remember the buds being bigger on the first grow at this point (Day 22 of 12/12) in flowering, and that was just a bagseed.

Most of the recommended feeding amounts given by manufacturers tends to be a bit high. The more you feed your plants, the more you have to buy from them, right?

I'm using PBP and I think it recommends 30ml/gallon, and I've been using 15ml/gallon with pretty good success. Again, strains have different requirements so you just have to see how the plants respond. Up it a little each time until you see slight nute burn, and then back down a bit.

Yeah, that's true. I'll just slightly begin to up the dosage, and if I see any signs of burn, then I'll just back down. I'm obviously going to take it slow, and not double the amount or anything right away, lol.

No I do, your my Northern Lights Bro. Unfortunately the doctors gave me a blast of steriods this morning and I guess I was just phased out for awhile. No disrespect for my bro in Northern Lights. Yea Greenhead your da man

I just finished out a clone of Northern Lights. I finished out late if that is any help. The cola was about 12 inches.

On the current batch, I had them flip right over to show the sex ( most of them) but now they have slowed back down. I think it is our strain.

Anyway I am a good two weeks behind you so I am no help. I fact you will be helping me out again.

Will keep track of this thread for sure.
The doctor said if the steriods really bothered me that it was ok if I used cannabis today. Well if I cant remember my buddy Greenhead then I think I need lots. I owe you a bud, bud. :joint:

I remember reading in your thread about some medical issues that you were having, and I hope that everything's good with you. I'd probably lapse out also if a doctor had just recently pumped me up with steroids. Best of luck with that, and I wish you the best and hope things work out. Pretty soon at least, we'll both be ending up with some decent Northern Lights buds to harvest, smoke and enjoy.

Thanks for understanding. Wish it would help me hit homeruns.

If that clone I got is any indication, it waited until last to kick in. Wish someone would post "yeah that is typical with Northern Lights". looking forward to smoking with you, even if just in cyberspace. Here is the clone hanging.

i used to grow NL exclusively for two reasons..good yield and nute resistant. LOL...what I mean is that it was a very forgiving strain when it came to nutes. NL doesnt get pissed of if underfed a bit..it just slows down. It also doesn't just keel over from burn either and you really have to jack up the nutes to burn it.

I hear a lot of people beat up NL as a mid grade grow, but I have always loved her. Forgiving, nice high, good producer, heat resistant, PM resistant. Not a mite magnet like some phenos I've grown (pineapple pheno of c99!!!!).

she's righteous by me. BTW, I find that a few drops of lemon juice in the curejar and a drop of cinamen(?) extract make for a to die for bag smell after cure.
