Does A window seal work?

Ok This is my first time growing a plant indoor and unfortunatly i dont have a camera to show you my set up... However I am simply growing it until it was warm enough to plant it out side due to the fact i live in Canada.

Any how, will a sprout grow normaly if it recieves 7 hours of sunlight a day about 4 to 5 times a week sitting on my window ceil.

Now i say 4 to 5 times a week because on the odd day it would either rain or be cloudy. Which is also going to be the case when its outside as well.

I thank you for any incoming replies.

You mean a window SILL.

When I saw "seal" I thought this was about odor/light control.

No, its not enough beyond seed sprouting. Look in the growroom design for cheap CFL set ups

You need more than 12 hours a day or the sprout will get too lanky and fall over.

Put it on your sill for part of the day then use a small CFL(compact fluorescent) at night or when the lights gone keep it vegging(18/6 24/0) until temps are good outside. If it is a girl you could take some clones before throwing her out and make sure you harden her off to the sunlight. Best of Luck

Not to mention it's to cold in a window sill most of the year.

Thanks a lot guys i really appreciate the replies. I also dont keep the plant on the sill at night beacuse there is no difference of light there so theres not really a point.

Now the plant is kind of lanky but is not falling over. Are you saying this is going to be a problem in a couple weeks or in a month?

I dont know if i can budget a grow awp. Would a normal light work lets say 100 wattz?

I dont like regular light they burn if they are too close trust me man you can afford a cfl compact fluorescent bulb they fit into any standard light socket or light but produce much more light(lumens) and with out the heat of a regular light so you can keep them real close. Just get a couple of those spiral fluorescents that are 20 watts or something. And yes this will be a problem you need the plant to be strong enough to support itself especially towards the end of flowering. I like starting them with a fan blowing on them so they are strong from the get go.

This only for a little while? like are you only veggin for a few weeks and goin outside?

cuz if you are for 15 bucks go pick a socket/clamp, and 42W CFL. that should veg a few plants for a few weeks.

I like my plants to have a good start. the healthier they are from the start the better the outcome in most situations. but just a cfl will do til they can go outdoors. Inclandescants do do jack and the window sil will most likley just make the seedling strectch like crazy.

Thanks a lot guys. I guess i will i can afford something as simple as at a 20 watt cfl light. I acualy just set up a pretty big box in my closet to put the plant in at night time or when there is no sun. And ya i was acualy doing the fan technique as well like it would only make sence that wind would make the stem stronger. and since its so hot in the closet for the plant i like to give it fresh cooler air every so often so it doesn't get used to warm temps.

How far does the light have to be until i get the cfl's?

Planting season can start as early as may 15th or even be late as may 24th. I hope i can get an early plant because i cant have a big plant in my closet lol.

Just one more question? Whats the lowest temperature a plant can take with out causing drastic harm?
