does a smelly seedling mean its a male?

i've had a smelly, lovely skunk smell from a seedling/young plant before, (abut 2 weeks veg from seed), an dit turned out to be male. i now have a gorgeuos smelling plant, but im worried its amale too (no signs as yet). are plants that smell before flower usually male? i would love to keep it, though i dont know how i would use it if it was male (apart from to sniff occasionally )

no you cant tell sex from a seed, or seedling..you can only tell its sex when it reaches maturity at about the 7th internode

one is you have use 12/12 before plants will sex.....

most plants will show preflowers at about week 5....

often at week4 and rarely beyond week 6....

Sometimes yes and sometimes no.

when you get close to alternating nodes, there should be a preflower or two, then you will know.

its got even smellier,and is alternating nodes. what size should i veg this for a scrog grow in cabinet approx 2ft wide by 2 and a half ft tall? no sign of sex that i can see (unless alternating nodes is a sign of sex rather than just maturity?)

Alternating nodes is maturity not gender.

How are we suppose to know how tall?
Strain and conditions dictate that.

Most plants will show preflowers around the 6th week from seed. Although there are exceptions like a Pot of Gold which is abosultely refusing to show preflowers and its about 12.5 weeks from seed.

thanks guys, i checked today and im pretty sure its a female. i mixed a few beans up, and some are LR#2 so im pretty sure its that. a good show for the joint doctor if it is, as this is some of the best i've smelt and its only 2 weeks old!

No, Just because its smelly doesn't mean that it is a male. You can tell the sex on a plant pretty easily. Buy a book about growing or keep surfing aroung here for a bit longer.

After you have grown a couple you will know. As far as smell goes.....somtimes yes and somtimes no....on the male part.

Your plants are looking good....just be patient.

Like everyone has already said...sex will show between 4 and 6 weeks in most cases.
