Intake is for circulating fresh air into your room, not nessisarily cooling.. You might be able to get away without one if your area isnt fully air tight, but you'd have to have a decent amount of airflow coming in, which means big gaps under doors, etc.

oh one more question how much air would be enough if i didnt have an intake and it wasent airtight? there is insulation so im pretty sure its close to airtight...

A fan that moves like 400 cfm i believe will work fine

If you have a window ac that is drawing air in from outside there is no need for an extra intake.

I think you would be fine....I have almost the same set up, mines 4x4x7 with a 5,000 btu window a/c.... I have a pair of 4'' computer fan's for the intake at the bottom.... Im in florida where its 90+ outside everyday and my temps stay between 70-76.... It also will depend on what size light you have... im only running a 400w hps.

its 2x 400 watters HPS... however im in socal and when it gets hot here in gets to 115 on a bad day... 100 on a good day during summer
