Long as the watts match up to the ballast you good
Personally i buy mine from the local electrical supply company.
Cheaper than buying them from a hydro shop. And i like being able to go in and pay with cash at a non-sketch store.

though...
I am not concerned about lumens and charts on which one is better, i just grow herbs.

according to all the talk ive seen on the forums, there are some differences, mostly in price.

(some growbulbs are better, but since they cater to a much smaller market, prices follow that and therefore the difference in output is much less than the difference in pricing)

..from what ive seen, they mostly can do small changes to the hps.

changes such as higher lumens but shorter life instead.

some added blue in other bulbs. (you lose red instead)

some claim these growbulbs are much better, dunno, only tried one bulb really :) (havent had that 600w hps for that long, 2 years, havent bothered changing the bulb yet, everything grows great still and im not much concerned about losing some percentages in weight)

though the bulb i have has added blue, i do like that. but whether its better than plain hps, dunno, some say so, while some that have much experience growing have claimed othervise, that there is little difference but price.

Thanks again for the input...

All my bulbs are 400 watt.

I was running a $90 bulb and two $25 bulbs.

I replaced the $25's with two $70 bulbs.

Six weeks later and I still cannot tell any difference, I have done a harvest and it is the same.
All the bulbs need blue, high dollar bulbs with added extra blue do not make a difference to the plant, if a meter is needed to see the blue it is not helping the plant.

I'll keep these till they're done, about two years, HPS holds up pretty well.

For blue I just switched to XM 10000K, almost identical to the sunpulse 10000k (would that be 10KK?) and it runs in a standard M59 ballast OR a digital.

ebay golden harvest is selling 1k for 27
600 are like 20 with free shipping
but typically I do the same as BB electrical supply is the next best bet but i only run those for 1 cycle,
There also cheaper than the Depot buy a couple $ and the other downside is the depot only carries up to 400"s mh and hps

You can grow good bud with cheap hps , I have , but the good hps bulbs are more efective , & worth the extra $.

I'd strongly suggest tha folks looking for inexpensive lamps buy those manufactured by "real" companies: GE, Sylvania, Philips. I've measured several low cost, Asian 600HPS lamps. Each and every one measured about the same as a 400. I even used the best one out of the lot for a grow. The yield was not what I typically see. My point is, it's great to save some money. I do it as much as the next guy. If one lamp says 600HPS, 90,0000 lumens and another lamps says 600HPS, 90,000 lumens it doesn't mean the output of the two is very similar.

agreed if you're trying to save money then dont worry about dual spectrum lamps etc... but DO get a branded hps - there's economy and then there's false economy.
