Do male plants smell?

I have three plants under flourecent lamp 20-4 for two month. Thay are still in veg period but one of them smells like good weed. I havnt sexed them yet. Shall i assume that the one with the smell is defenately female? Do male plants smell too?

I'd keep an eye for it being male tbh, I find a lot of times they produce more terps earlier than the fems along with a faster growth at times.
Nvr know till they show though really, sometimes a nice smelly fem'll strt early with the terps.

cheers,................................................gps

yes male plants can stink better than the females..

a indication of i go by is what grows faster.. males will grow faster.. so whatever is taller and "doing better" i'll usually assume is a male.. but this isnt always the case.. just cause its taller doesnt mean it will be a male or cause its short it'll be a female.. but thats just what i predict things on..

if there 2 months old you should of come across some preflowers by now..

Smell does not specify sex. Yes male plants smell too.
Going to 18-6 lighting might bring out some early signs of sex.. there are a couple good threads about early sex detection...
if youre going to bloom under the floros, better to have a 'warm' color bulb, not cool white.. although CW will work.. GL

Do male plants "smell"...hmm, they do not have an "olfactory system" (nose) so technically, no. Yes, they do and can emit and odor that is indistinguishable (male/female same-same)--while remaining true to it's strain.

Now can one determine the sex by the plant's odor emission?...I doubt the accuracy would be better than 50/50 (flip of a coin).

Thanks guys. The thing is i have 3 plants two month old and 9 seedling. I am moving soon to a new place and the seedling need repoting into bigger pots already. So i dont wana waste my space by male plants.

Yeah ive read about pre flowers and spotted them on my plants. But cant see any differance. They are like dots. I might have to use a magnifying glass. But since its my first time its gonna be hard. Specialy if all are same sex. Thanks again all.

hey limo,

thanks for tolerating my attempts at humor.

visual inspection (like they are saying) works great.
