Do lowryder 2 trichs go amber?

This may be a bit of an amateurish question but I need to know. Basically my lowryder 2 trichs have been sitting on virtually all cloudy for a while now. And I don't see any sign of any amber. Im just wondering, do lowryder 2 trichs not turn amber? Should I harvest now already? I wanted to take on of my plants to 50 percent amber...

Hey anonymousgrower and thc, thanks for replying. I was starting to despair. She is at 48 days flowering, about 69 days from seed. Everyone else seems to be done at this point with their lowryder 2s. But I mean like I said the trichs are showing any amber yet, and one plant in particular has had a new wave of white pistils. Ill try and put up some pics soon. I have some recent ones on my other post if you want to check it out:

So yeah thanks for the input guys and hopefully you can shed some further light on my issue (not really an issue I guess just a concern).

I have noticed only a small percentage of my LR2s trichs going amber. And even while I get some (maybe 10% amber), I still have a high number of clear!

I have wanted to let them go further and see if I can get more amber for a stronger product, but each time the REDICULOUS stench of the LR2 has forced me to chop before I've let them run their course. I just chopped my last one at Day 66 from seed with maybe 10% amber. I've never heard of a true LR2 going past day 75 from seed.

Off-topic - how do you find the smell? If it's as strong as my strain, how do you control it?

Hey batboy, thanks for the reply. I find the smell delicious, I've got a mango pheno and two other mega fruity ones. They all reek right now. I don't have any problems with odour though. They're all sealed up in a cabinet, and my exhaust fan blows through a carbon filter - I know its supposed to be on the intake, sucking air through it but theres no space in the cab - and that takes care of it all. Just buy yourself a decent carbon filter - make sure you buy a large enough filter for your extractor fan, check the cfm rating - and that should take care of it.

Ok it's been 72 days from seed now. I'm still not seeing any amber. Any ideas? There's a post to my plants above if you need a picture to give you an idea on the answer. Thanks everyone. Appreciate the replies.

Hey there Kaneh. Thats interesting that you had the same thing. I wonder if this is normal or whether we both did something that is stopping/slowing the trichs from going amber. I am indeed reaching the point where I'll probably just chop anyway. As you say chyna, all other cues are pointing to yes. Its just a shame not to get those amber trichs in there. And THC I agree with your methods. I've always thought you should do as you please with your ladies, not what other people tell you to do. And personally I'd really like to get some amber in there but I'm fast losing hope that I'll see any in there... Thanks again for all the replies guys.

My LR#2 plants are approximately 12 weeks old. Trichomes have been cloudy few WEEKS already.
Everybody all talking about how it is needed to watch trichomes to see when the plants are ready, and are complaining about how big part of them should be amber...
Nobody ever told in any grow guides that it is possible that they don't turn amber at all.

Today after i checked once again with loop if there is any amber trichomes or not -and found none, i started to suspect that something isn't quite right. :)

I found this thread first: http://www.thctalk.com/cannabis-forum/showthread.php?76782-Low-Ryder-2-trichs-just-not-going-amber

-and this one here right away too. Based to this "new" information (for me) i came to conclusion that my plants have been ready for a while.

Even their smell was heavier couple weeks ago than it is now. So i guess they are ripe if not over done -and still no any amber trichomes. Wait, one of the plants had two small amber trichomes. Few other plants had none.

Good post! Thanks. :thank you:

Wondered about that. Mentioned colors on other sites and pretty much was told I was nuts... wait!

Waited I did. 10 week plants allowed to go 14+ and no change (or very, very little).

Running dirt with CMHs, figured I had a problem. Switched to HPS, back agin (diff. strains) and came to a conclusion.
I'll no longer harvest AFs according to trich colors. Some seem to just not turn.
I had one plant almost toally die-off and dried up fairly well all while under the lights and still very few (if any amber).
Seems the more sativa in the hybred the less it wants to change. In some ways, I feel that's good. If harvest needs to be detained a little it's nice knowing my herb will not suffer much for the wait.
Did notice though on some of them sativa dominants that if allowed to go too long,, the buds will restart(?) with more hairs and the buds get airier and more open like a true sativa. Not a biggie, but seems to desrtoy "bag appeal" for many.
Presently, I determine harvest times by the overall plant. It's a little different for me from strain to strain,, but pretty much inline with breeder's recommendations in the end (within a few days).
Sorta freaked me out too because I do like couch - lock sometimes in the evening for meds.

unfortunately your curing process might be flawed. i suggest using a cool place. light proof containers are your best bet for the amber colour you are aiming for.

? AFAIK we were looking amber trichomes in a living plants to help decide when it is time to harvest.. at least i was not talking about curing at all.
