Do light leaks cause hermies?

I've set my timer to 12/12 I was wondering does a small light leak mean automatic hermies? I've got 2 females I'm 100% sure. How much can a light leak hurt my plants in 12/12. I've heard people with outddor grows have street lights near and they didn't get affected by the street lights.

Well street lights on average are 35 feet in the air, I doubt anyone has their crop that close to the street that it would be affected by the light that hits the streets. Street lights are also fairly directional, the light behind a fixture is greatly reduced compared to directly below it.

I did have a conversation with a guy who had a street light on his property.( The municipality had installed a MH street light years ago on a road allowance. They decided to sell off the property years later as a residential lot. The guy convinced the town to keep the light there, as his driveway is long and he pays the power bill for it). Long story short, "somehow" a seed got planted there and after 9 months of direct sunlight and this MH shining down on it, he had a 12 ft plant. The problem was it was a male. I bet there were some pissed off outdoor farmers that years when the pollen was released.

Light leaks can and will cause hermies. Before I dixcovered no pest strips,I used pyrethrum bombs in the flower and veg room which are across the hall from each other maybe five foot away.I used them 3 nights in a row,and stayed at my brothers house those nights.I kept both doors open. The flower room ended up getting 6 hours of indirect light from the vegroom for 3 nights in a row.I had some female DP flo clones that were second generation and definately all female, next thing I knew I had a couple herms.Theres no doubt whatsoever it was from the indirect light from the vegroom.Small leaks and red diodes can do the same thing.Ideally, you shouldnt be able to see your hand a couple foot in front of your face when lights are off in the flower room

Last grow i added a 12v power supply (3-4 weeks before harvest)to power some dc fans. 2 weeks before harvest i started noticing hermie flowers. At lights out i peeked in and instantly noticed the red power lite on the power supply. Funny the plant closest to the light really hermed and each plant further down was less hermie. Luckily this happened late and i only ended up with 12 seeds. Just to make sure it was the light, i ran a clone off one of the plants and sure enough it didnot herm, a pick of that PSP is in my gallery. moral of the story: even a red power light can cause it.

Always use electrical tape over red diodes, green or blue diodes are fine they wont affect your plants.
