Do I need to cull this male? HELP!

I have three plants next to each other.

A Durban Poison, a Malawi Gold, and a Transkei.

The Durban Poison is almost done, maybe 10 days to go.

The Transkei and Malawi have just stated showing sex this week.

The issue is, that the Transkei is male.

I would love for it to pollinate the Malawi, but I am not sure how it will effect the Durban.

The DP flowers are looking beautiful and I dont want to fuck it up.

So, my question is what kind of effect will ten days exposure to male pollen have on the last week or so of DP flowering?????

do I need to cull the Transkei?
need to do it today, if so

thanks

I wouldn't want to pollenate my bud just before harvest, right when the plant is using it's energy to make resin. If you want to use some pollen, you could wait until the male is almost ready and cut the largest top and leave it in a glass in a window, somewhere far away from the ladies. It will produce pollen you can collect on a sheet of paper under the glass, then just touch your Malawi with pollen on a few branches.

I wouldn't leave that male in the room if he's dropping pollen.

If no male flowers are opening yet you may be fine...
Once you see those flowers start to open, however, pollen could start flying at any moment.

Id take Adze advice if you've never delt with males previously.

Good luck.

it's outside.

I just dug it up and transplanted it at my friends house a few miles down the road.

hopefully it survives because I REALLY want that pollen.

it from a seed I collected in South Africa a couple years ago.

Anyway, what would happen to the flowers if they where pollinated so late ( a week to go)?

would it just mess up the resin production?

thanks so much,

You should be good to go now.

You may be amazed at how resilient these plant are... He'll probably get a slight delay from transplanting but should be back to his norm within a week... Maybe two.

If it just started showin sex it probably won't drop pollen for at least a week so I don't think you need to worry, but if you want to be sure you could always just pull off the male flowers as they develop until you are ready for him to start droppin.

thanks MJPassion.

im praying I get this pollen.

the plant I got the seed from was super speedy Transkei bud.

I was hoping to cross it with the Durban, but the DP flowered so much earlier that it wasn't possible.

so now the plan is to use it on the Malawi, and a Ghost Train Haze

thanks again

I wouldn't kill the male if I were you.

Lol wow don't know how I missed that. Must be sleeping still. Good luck with him.

If he's special take a cut just in case. Sometimes I'll take snips off a male at that stage and just put them in a cup of water on top of a piece of wax paper with a cfl light overhead. Pollen still drops and you just collect it after.

thanks for the advice Scrappy.

this plant is super special. I spent a month in the Transkei collecting seeds and I lost them all (hotel maid threw them out)
this is is the only one that survived.

it would cost me thousands of dollars and a lot of time to go back and find seeds like that again.

this is a very precious plant to me.

Yes the flower will be affected by the male pollen like you mentioned.
You won't see any negative influence on the THC or other terpene production though. A seeded bud can get you just as high as a non-seeded one.

thanks biologic.

I agree, I have gotten far higher off outdoor seeded bud than anything else

Hope it works out. Props on the preservation attempt. Don't know anything about the region but always wanted to go abroad on a seed collecting exhibition.

If you really want to pollinate the Durban, just hit one of the lowest branches and leave the bottom part of the plant to finish making seeds after you harvest the top.
