Do I need a vent? My box is 61cm high by 38cm by 39cm with the bulb right at the top I just put a 80mm PC fan at the top with a coal filter so it works nice as a light trap then add a 10cm high lid to the top of the box to stop it from getting hot and now the box can be covered, both room are light and air tight there are two inlet fans one 80mm pc fan and 100mm pc fan the 100 has been half covered by two pipes going up top another 80mm pc fan both inlet fans have there own light traps question is do I need to put an outlet in the lid as I'm try to push the hot air from the bulb and smell in to the lid area ? Any help good or bad would help as this is my first go. Many thanks:dance013::dance013:

Welcome to the forum, Zombie.
Is it too much to ask for a simple drawing or scheme? It's pretty hard to follow the text and understand exactly what you mean, especially for a bunch of stoners.

Picture three is of the air inlet light traps
Picture four is of the two inlet fans
Last picture is of the outlet fan and bulb
Sorry about lack of info in post new to all this

I'm having trouble understading what you want to do, too. maybe you should try and explain it again, now that we have the pics in front of us.

I'll try my best guess and say that you want to enclose the top 10 cm of the top of the cab, and exhaust the air from there, filtered?

hi 24/7 zombie

sorry is this a clean airvent into the room?

or are you thinking you need a vent between the main chamber and a chamber above and filter the air there?

can you import a picture into software like paint and draw a circle on it where you mean?

Did you realize you wrote this as a single sentence?

Hate being a grammar nazi, but it would be easier to help you if your post was easier to read.

A simple diagram of your cab and the airflow directions would help as well. It's kind of hard to tell how everything works from just a few close up pictures, although the pictures do help in their own way.

I got a fan going from the main room and the top room, top room only gets air from the main room other than that it air tight

from what i understand.. you have two spaces in the box, and you're venting into an airtight space from the main grow chamber, correct??

obviously you need a hole in it... if air cant escape hows it supposed to be replaced with fresh air?

Had a rethink last nite deside to add an extra 80mm pc fan in the top box, ( there will now be two fans inline with each other between the top room and main room) Im also going to put two small vents connected to two light trap pipes to see if this help keep the main room cooler, it is running very hot at the momen since I move the exhaust fans form the bottom of the main room to the top.

I will take some pictures later so you can see the changes and if you think it mite work or not, ill add arrows to show air direction in the pictures to try and help show what's happening to the air

Yes you need a fresh air vent that goes into your flower chamber. The air in the flower chamber should be exchanged twice per minute. My suggestion is to have fresh air come in the bottom of your box. Then at the top of your box is where you want a hole for the air to go out and thru your filter. The plants need fresh air constantly, unless your giving them co2, them things will get way more complex in that little box(more timers, and shit in the way. Home depot has six inch insulated flex pipe for like $30 for 25ft., should be plenty to set up air exchange for your box, and you'll have plenty of length to make light traps with it.

So I add a second fan in the top room and use the to pipes to make a light trap vent

On this side shot you can now see where the two light trap vents leaving the top room from the picture above

Sorry think this picture is the wrong way round the two white holes in the bottom left hand corner this would normal be at the top

You need to have fresh air coming in the bottom of the box, and the "used" air, "hot" air , going out the top. With a box that size, a fan in the upper chamber, or on top of the box would work. The fan on the top will pull fresh air in thru the bottom. Then from the top of the box, you would have that air pushed thru a carbon filter, to take care of the smell. At the bottom where the fresh air comes in, you can cut a piece of furnace filter to fit the opening. Make sure you get a good furnace filter, that traps mold, pollen, and all the nasties. Then you should be set, fresh clean air in and co2 depleted hot air out.
