Do commercial growers in the US grow high yielders?

I see posted here about US growers growing strains like OG Kush and it's variants, Cookies etc.

But from what I know these are low yielding plants.

So just wondering if any US commercial growers grow high yielders such as Critical Mass?

Or wont the buyers buy these, preferring instead the latest elites, so the growers have to grow lower yielders to be able to sell them?

many high yielding strains are grown commercially
flo is a high yielder and one of the most common strains available in colorado stores

there are high yielding OGK strains as well nowadays

It was my understanding that Flo is a low yielder, but maybe someone crossed it with a high yielder such as Critical Mass and still called it Flo.

there are lots of generations of flo
the flo that goes around colorado (i've been told it's the Flo-dica line from the temple flo) is a great yielder

but lets use your example instead of mine;
commercial ops grow critical mass, i've seen it several times on the shelves of med stores in colorado in both flower and concentrate form

They do

Some shops have obvious genetics...like they cross a GSC with a high yielder and still call it GSC

would it even sell though with high quality strains being available? I imagine it would have to be significantly cheaper.

It is uncommon to see people sell #'s of lower yielding cookie strains. You mainly see stuff like flavor of the month seed company cookie crosses, and various homemade cookie crosses (I've seen so many various cookie cuts "crossed" to GG4 to increase yield). This is also why Animal Cookies and Dosidos are some of the most popular cuts. A lot of people grow various gelato cuts now too.

It doesn't mean that these aren't high quality strains. Generally, these crosses are some of the best pot you can buy at most clubs, and is some of the prettiest bud you will ever see, so it fetches top dollar easily. Sure, some of the crosses might not be as good as the original, but people like variety.. more people are concerned with buying good pot then buying the "best" pot.

Chem 4 is very popular, fetches very good prices, and is a beast. It sells VERY well and everyone knows that it yields a ton... because the end product is very simlar to the "best" and lowest yielding OG cookie or Chem.

Tl;dr People like variety and well grown pot, and prices are dictated by Bag appeal, smell, hype, and then how high it gets you. Very nice indoor BD still has no problem selling, it won't get cookie or OG prices, but it will get mid prices. (Along with "meh" grown OG, Cookies, glue, etc.) There was just too many people growing it and subpar blue dream is way below subpar cookies or OG... so a lot of people gave it a bad stigma.
