DIY room Carbin Air filter

Hello all,

I had a problem with the smell of buds in my office. It was an issue due to the traffic through my office as of late.

I needed an air filter to remove the smell of smoked pot (and ground in my stash dish). So I went to Home DePot and pruchased a braon 6" round bathfan, the bucket and lid I had, some 1/8" hardware cloth, some pantyhose (more on them later).

I have about 30 lbs of AC I use for my CF in my grow cab. I used about 8 lbs.

Some hole saws and a few power tools and

viola:

Thats a three speed fan speed controller and a box and cover a 3-wire 14 gaugh 12 foot extenstion cord.

whatcha think?

would you pay 80 bux on ebay?

As to the pantyhose...I purchased the largest size thet had there. It was ok for the inner cylinder but would not go around the outer part of the bucket. I tried and tried but the damn things would not stretch..not even with two people pulling on them. Talk about yoru tough panties.

I want to remidy this and I was thinkig maybe a big ladies store where they sell pantyhose in the titanic size.

oh goodie, its just about time to test it by smoking a taster bud from my next harvest in a few days.

SAdly, I did not take any construction pictures.

Its a basic filter that rather then draw air through and out with ducting, the fan on top sucks air and pushes through the filter...admittedly not the best arrangement.

But it works wonders in my office. Just a silent hum from the corner.

When I smoke I just turn it up and indulge my bad habits.

Its not instantanious odor removal mind you but left over night and not a trace...least for me so its a plus plus for me.

I do not know for sure but I think in one of the DIY threads (some of which are OG saves) there is a layout of pretty much what I did using a 5 gallon bucket.

I will check later and tag it for here.

If I was an idiot I would pay 80 bux on ebay for one... but I'm not, so I'll just make one if I need to. Mind you, most people are idiots, so they would sell. Just make it cleaner looking.

nice scrubber design there minds_i. am looking for something like that. I agree a bit wth pumpkin_2006 but if it were... say all white it would be big diff. prototypes always gonna be made from stuff to hand...proof of concept and all...

excellent result..... mind if I imitate?

Hello all,

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, just a thought...the ebay thing.

However it works great in my office and I would think it would be an extra in a situation where some extra odor control is necessary. For instance, I have a cab with a CF internally. It works well but sometimes near harvest I could use a little extra control.

As to copying it.....head on and if you can improve on it let me know.

You might consider sheets of polyfill found at sewing stores in quilting supplies.
