DIY resin-free glass gear

Not sure how or why it works, but we stumbled on a nifty small homemade hitter that repels resin buildup like magic. A bottle from Star white wine vinegar, a Dremel tool and about a half hour or less. The little bong you can make from it hits really well w/zero splash due to the bottle's shape. Unreal, but the thing just doesn't take on a resin buildup at all. Always looks like I just gave it an alcohol/salt bath.

The glass bowl was a slider and I tucked the grip to the side to avoid breakage. Thinking of making a carb but on such a short piece it's tough to avoid a wet stinky thumb on some hits.

wonder if its some different kind of glass, but more than likely it doesn't stain because of the contents of the bottle before you turned it into a bong. vinegar is a strong solvent that cleans and disinfects. good job, gets me wondering what i'll find next time im in the grocery store.

Thanx. If ya' haven't done this sort of stuff with a Dremel b4 it's a good idea to practice on a few beer bottles till u get the technique down w/o cracking the glass. I brace the bottle between knee and chest and with my other hand have a spray bottle keeping the stone wet and glass cool.
It doesn't take long to get the knack.
I thought it was the vinegar too, but found it doesn't dissolve resin as I would think to have the repelling effect on the glass. It has to be something about the glass that makes it work. Admittedly, after heavy usage a few tiny specks of resin began collecting at the top of the neck. But they came off easily with a toothbrush and warm soapy water compared to other glassware.
We love how it hits big for a little piece.

:pumpkin:Happy Halloween everyone!

goldslaghter makes a nice bong

What is it? The name doesn't ring a bell. Can't help but think there must be other grocery store glass goodies out there that work the same way. I'm just a stickler for a clean hit when the occasion arises. This hitter was just what the Doctor ordered.

Did some poking around online under several search terms on anything relating to the resin resisting properties of this weird Teflon-like glass, and nothing comes up. Even thought maybe it had something to do with the particular new unknown strain I been puffin' lately, but my buddy dropped by with some dank earlier and the results were the same.
The more we try to figure out why the magical non-stick glass does it's thing with extensive testing, the more ripped we get. Lol!

BRUH, you really do have to step your game up man, that dremel shit takes entirely too long.

I make my own pipes all the time, gotta get yourself the the ceramic hole cutting drill bits and drill through that glass, once you do it right trust and believe every and any glass bottle you look at will become a bong

I had to respond to this one because when I saw your post and saw that you were talking about the dremel I assumed that it was an old thread that someone revived but 2013 and still usin' a dremel for pipes?

anyway man, nice find and observation, im always up for making a homemade hitter, I just love the DIY aspect of it all.

my bong spirit bong and my voss bong are always at arms length, as well as my (damn whats that liquor that comes in the round short bottle, has an orange flavor I think, I think its cointraeu or some shit? no its not Cointreau, fuck whats the name of it again . . . well fuck if I can remember) anyway, I bought some attachments for it and its now a nice lil hookah styled pipe, now that I remember I actually have a tequila bottle that's in the shape of an AK47 and that's gonna be my next one. I think after I convert that one im gonna ease off on making anymore unless something breaks

this vid explains it best: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwLrJwg6OuM

***I normally fill the bottles, that im cutting, with water as well as running water over the drill site

so now I'm wondering if I buy a new bong and pour a bottle of Star White Wine vinegar in it and leave it for several months will be blessed in the same way.

of course I'd still have the original bottle to work with either way.......

This has really tickled my curiosity...so I decided to go straight to the company to start my research. I found out the person to talk to at the Star company, she wasn't in, so I sent her this email:

Hi Debbie,

I have an unusual question for you. I am an artist, and am working on a scultpture of glass bottles that will have different colored smoke flowing through them. I had been having difficulty due to the smoke creating build up inside the bottles, and one of my artist friends suggested that I use the bottles you put your Star white wine vinegar in. He said that for some reason your bottles resist any ugly build up...but when I asked him why, he didn't know why.

Well, I'm a very curious person, and like to know what makes things tick. I figured the best place to ask was with your company. I suppose this is a question you've never heard before and might not have an answer. If you don't, the next best thing for me would be to find out the company that makes your bottles so I can find out what type of glass they use in making the bottles. If I can find out the glass type, then I can just do research on that particular glass.

Thanks for any help you can provide. Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Wiggs

Let's see what this avenue of inquiry turns up....

Step up my game, eh? I could squash your lame arrogant (admittedly u don't realize it) logic in 2 seconds or less. I f u need to engage such and argument, by all means...

...The main point of the post was it's resin-free glass. U got anything like that??? Then what's the logical conclusion in the matter??? Lol! Get arrogant with me and I'll rip your head off w/o mercy! Any questions???

...Or, let's look at what your point is to see if it's really got it goin' on in the productivity dept. I would have to go out, find and purchase the stuff you're harpin' on. Then learn a technique I find no advantaged enjoyment in FOR MORE THAN A HOST OF UNIVERSALLY ACKNOWLEDGED REASONS. While I already have a Dremel and know how to work it well. But no, I'm the clueless one who needs to step up my game to suit your interests and a few friends alone. LMFAO!!!

Is it any wonder I don't really like to hang out here, or anywhere for that matter? Not only is the disease rampant, it isn't recognized by those dishin' it out like it's healthy or something. As though anything else spells weakness or uninspired lethargy.-???-???-??? This will be deemed as spam, so I'm outa' here...
