DIY pump controller needed

I need a timer that will turn my water pump on 30 seconds every 30 minutes but dont feel like paying 250$ for something that Im sure can be done myself with the help of someones knowledge.
Now at first I thought to myself that all I needed was a digital timer but found out that timers only have minute cycles, none of them have seconds so if someone has any suggestions Im open minded

ur best bet will be go to an electronics forum and give the requirments(ie wattage) of the pump and the sort of timing range you want...no need to mention growing ...youll get some help better there i think. There was an old simple cycle timer diy on overgrow....it may be in the saved pages that should be in the link o rama....
over here i can get a Greenair "Cyclestat 4" for 80 pounds and thatll do what you need.... i cant see it costing more in the states, even with the exchange rate (if that where u are)
EDIT Heres the DIY....you could take that to someone and ask themn to mod it to have switches instead of moving the pins around....it would have to have the possible connections already made, with rotary seletor switches determining which path the current takes thus which timing. http://www.drugs-forum.com/growfaq/1110.htm
