So I have 3 fans pushing a lot of air out, and i've grown tired of the noise.
Tonight i didn't feel like sleeping so i went and build 3 of these babies.
So my ideas came from my vacuum cleaner exhaust, and my motorcycle exhaust...i kind of mixed both of them, and used stuff i had laying around in the garage.
All you need is:
->duct tape (of course)
->knife
->some kind of mesh (i used a bottle for the third exhaust when i ran out of mesh, just did a shitload of holes in it so the air is absorbed)
->stapler
->cardboard from some crap you bought and kept the box
->toilet paper or some other paper that let's air through
->foam or something else so you dont spend all your toilet paper, should let air through too
-> Total cost: dare i say 0$????Hehehe.. ok let's say 20-30$ if you don't have any of this stuff at home, but hey.. who doesn't?
Here are the pics:
This is the stuff i used.
Cardboard,stapler,knife,mesh,paper,foam.
Roll up the mesh (tighter means less noise sound but more air sound, larger is the oposite, i got better results with tighter, like 3cms wide or so)
Wrap lots of paper, and then foam, around the mesh
Then take the cardboard and roll it around the stuff
Staple it and do lots of holes in it so the air passes
Wrap it around what you already had going
Then wrap a lot of paper around it too.
Okay that's it, here are the two finished "exhausts", one after duct taping and the other before.
After that, line them up with your ducts, and...duct tape them in!
Here's the end result, an awesome dual exhaust eheh:
And you would NOT BELIEVE the HUGE difference this has made..
I hear almost no sound, i mean it makes as little sound as the computer does! The computer fan is louder in fact!
I made a sample video before duct taping in the third exhaust, with the fan blowing full power. It's 16mb but if someone want's too check out the difference, even without the dimmer (fan at 100%) i'll try to put it somewhere.
Hope you like it.
p.s.: of course this is not good for people who want to put them inside near lamps where there is a fire hazard! be safe!
