Just wondering if the Bake-a-round thingy is suitable for 1000 or even 600 w hps bulbs. Based on the DIY I seen it was based on a 400w a couple and people asked if it would work for 600's and 1000's and there wasint really a clear answer. Anyone no if the Bake-a-rounds will work or is there another alternative for DIY?

I used them for 1000,s just keep air-flow goin. Due to size of the tubes and the heat of a 1K they tend to heat up if you don,t have constant air flow...The tubes are Pyrex so they will take heat but your wiring, bulbs etc might not. They ceratainly are a cheap alternative to payin,$100+ for a real cool tube..
good luck

I don't have the link, but check out NiteTiger's thread with his two 1k boxes with vertical cooltubes.

Bake A Round's are only 4" diameter, I think. Have you ever seen a 1kW bulb in person, especially a Hortilux that has a slight "diamond" shape?
