Distance from filter to vortex vtx 400 220cfm

Hi all first post here.

I have a small tent 3x 3 x 6, marshydro tx 1000, 12 inch CF. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to suspend my filter inside the tent and run the solid ducting out and threw a solid wall then make a 90 degree turn into a separate room that is totally isolated from the building and underground where the fan would be? The total run of ducting would be under 15feet. The reason is the room that would have the tent is beside the a mosey tenant and a fan noise would be easily heard and questions. I own the building. Would the fan have issues pulling air that distance?

thanks for any info

Welcome to ICMag!

I'm going to side with the yes votes. You never know until you try. I have a vtx 400. It's a mighty little beast.

What I really popped in to say is use some kind of heavy duty rubber mounts to mount to the ceiling. You will be amazed at how much quieter things will be. This goes for the filter as well as the fan. I ran those black rubber cargo straps thru eyebolts and then hooked them onto the cinch straps holding the filter. For the fan I just hooked them thru the mounting holes on the manufacturer's bracket.

I sleep about 6 feet away from it. I can hear some noise but no more than a dryer or heater duct.

The key to a quiet fan is to buy a big one and run it on low. :rasta:

But since you already have it, all you can do is try it. You are slowing the airflow in 2 spots - with the filter and again with the 90 angle. But see what happens.
