Distance from 600w HPS and target temps?

Hey IC,

Assuming you had a heat pump and could set the day and night temps to whatever you wanted, how close would you put a 600w HPS. 12 inches?

Day temp 81, night temp 75?

I'd say that you've got the right parameters, imo. The temps are right in the range that I typically run my room which is temp controlled by a heat pump/minisplit. Though, I'm running 1k's I used to have all 600's in there. I had air cooled hoods, so I was able to get the lights pretty close. Are you running bare bulbs or ac hoods? Do you have CO2 enrichment? If so you could even go a little higher with the lights on temps.

No co2 enrichment. Just using parabolic "umbrella" shades.

3x600 in big kahunas with 8000btu portable ac. hoods have 2x 6" 440cfm fans. tops of plants are 12" from glass. I also have an 18" fan blowing under hoods to get that "hot pocket" blown away. canopy temp is 73-75 lights on, 70* floor temp.

I would want the night temps more like 65f

I run an air cooled hood so I can't tell you what you should do for your hood. My night temps at 65 and my day time temps max out at 74. Its perfect for the plants. I can get my plants within 6 inches of my hood and no burning.

i have just bought an adjust a wing reflector with 600watt hps hydro shop told me too keep it 60cms away from plants

i run bare vert n some buds get 8-10" away with no bleaching, temps bout 80-82f.

the green flowers turn bleached white from the light (tops). happens just about on 1 cola every flower run.
