Dip n grow question

Hi, having recently turned to all organic growing. My cloning method of choice has been Dip n grow using a clone machine. What I want to know, is dip n grow safe to use? Is there an organic alternative? Since there is a warning label which just doesn't seem right to use dipngrow to clone buds. Anyone with the answers please help.

Not sure on organic alternatives but does it say its NOT organic? I use it and its a fail safe cheap way to make clones. From what I understand, you dont NEED rooting hormones it just speeds up the process..

Hope that helps a little?

I will also stick to my dip n grow, but if you are using a clone machine, you dont really need any cloning gel/powder/liquid. The aeroponic like enviroment will do all the work. To be honest you don't even need a spray action. I have gotten roots from clones with just a air stone in water creating a lot of bubbles and have the ends of the cutting in the water.

But if you want to use somthing you can use earthjuice rootstock, Its all natural and vegan, at least thats what the label says.

I would be careful using anything organic in an aerocloner anyway, shit breeds in water so fast... I would just use hydroguard if you wanted no rooting compound. I personally have had my best results with dipngrow and brag about it to all my friends. At 5x strength roots break through rockwool cloning cubes in about 6 days. I mean literally split the cubes in half... I also used it with my ezcloner very successfully, I dumped the unused solution right in the resevoir.

I use dip n' grow all the time, and i can swear by it. I use it at 10x concentration and get 100% root success every time. An overgrow (currently an ICmag user) user named "soquick" rooted his clones in just 7 days when he used dip n' grow.

But if you must choose an organic hormone, then i recommend Earth Juice RootStock (comes in a gel and liquid, use both for best results) and Doc's cloning gel.

You can also use organic liquified seaweed; from what i hear, it works just as good as a professional hormone. I've also heard people making their own organic hormone by using the extracts from willow tree leaves: http://www.drugs-forum.com/growfaq/1311.htm

Hey Chakal, I just joined the forum today (been lurking around for about a month or so) and I was a member of overgrow for atleast 3 years before its demise. If your really worried about total organics, I remember reading on overgrow, you can always use willow branchs. The tips of Willow branches contain auxin, which is a sort of rooting solution. Just smash them up, and soak them in water, then just let it sit over night. Use the liquid (take out the pieces of willow) like you would any other man made rooting solution. Hope that helps.

Thank you all for your help.

Pontiac: I think I will go this method. It sounds the best answer for me. I don't think I can get any willow branches around here but I will keep looking.

Peace, I'm out.

That whole idea about cloning w/ willow juice is from "Indoor Marijuana Horticulture" by Jorge Cervantes (my favorite author).

I met a guy at a local hydro shop who said that he tried it and it worked perfectly. He was thinking about bottling it and selling it.

Hope it works out for you. Today, I will do about a 100 clones into rockwool with Roottech gel.

Peace

I'm curious about this as well.... I've been following the directions on the Dip N Grow bottle. 3 to 5 seconds.

I read in BOG's book where he would soak his clones for 5 minutes in it!

How long do you guys soak your cuttings for?

Has anyone had any bad effects from a soak longer than the directions suggest?

Thanks.

when i was using it i would let the fresh cuts stay in the solution (10x) until i got 4-5 done. this extra soaking was somewhat detrimental to the cuts because instead of little roots going everywhere the rooting points would form up these huge knobs that take forever to throw actual roots.it made my cuts take up to 20 days to root because of this and im used to 8-14 days. when the roots did come out of the knob they exploded and started vertical growth 2 days later so it's almost a fair trade. sometimes the nodes above the cube would throw out tiny roots too w/ the extreme soak. works perfect when you follow the directions. someone should try a more diluted, longer soak and report results here.

Rooting compounds aren't going to harm you in any way.. the chemicals used are so dilute that by the time your plants are budding, there are no traces left. Don't worry about it, and use what works.

I believe the Dip and Grow is 98% organic, it would be 100% organic, but it has 2% non organic Urea in the mix. I believe that anything over 95% organic can be called 'organic'. -Don't quote me on that though

For weed, use the 20x dilution method for no more than 5 seconds.
The FAQ from Dip N Grow says any longer does no good.
It also says too much longer gets worse results.
My own tests over the last year in an EZ Cloner verify what they say.

A sure case of less is more. They say the more dilution the better (up to 20x).

Dip N' Grow Success

Dip N' Grow Success

If your stems are slightly "woodier" than that of a celery stock ( those doing Aero now what im talking about) use 1:17 for 3 sec. exactly for aero clones use 1:20 for 3 sec. exactly. After 5 days change water out with new water(this will allow roots to shoot). after you see root tips, probably a couple days later add Rapid Start by General Hydroponics ( its just like that willow stuff other dude was talkng about). follow these directions and You'll Have Massive Thick White Roots.
THE WATER:
water is distilled or good RO. The water temp should be 65-70 always, and never past 72. use oxygenated(airated) water prior to soaking cubes. 1 tsp. of Vitamin B1 per gal.

Rapid Rooters,no cloning gels/powders needed. They are made from organic polymers and contain a natural rooting hormone.

Rapid Rooters are the newest addition to the starter cube family. Used by commercial growers for years they are now available to the general public. They are 100% organic and work great. Made from composted tree bark and latex (natural rubber). The composted bark gives off a natural rooting hormone that helps promote rapid rooting. These starter cubes also have large quantities of beneficial microbes that colonize young roots and help young plants to resist disease while maximizing nutrient uptake.

this is my slowest batch of clones yet, think i didn't soak them enough, just like a little swirl, maybe 1-3 seconds at 20x dilution. ima try 10x with a 1-3 second dip next time.

I have an Ez Cloner can you please outline your process using Dip n Grow. Last time I adding Hormex to water with nutrients and used some gel and the combo seems too much got some curling and twisting and slight burning
