Dinafem Critical+ grow journey 2015

Hello Guys!

I have a question what I would like to discuss with you.

so I have 6 Critical+ plants what I want to cut the upper part of for clones (or better if I repot them to bigger pot and wait till I can cut lower branches for clones)? Is it a safety way to double the number of my plants or maybe too early to clone them now?

the C+ plants:

will take more pix soon

Isn't C+ an auto strain? The one I have is is why I'm asking.
If it is an auto, you won't be able to clone it. If it's non auto, then it looks almost big enough to get a clone out of. I'd wait another week or so.
Are they feminized?

Critical+ is simply an improved version of critical aka bigbud(skunkxafghan), there are auto strains of it too.

If you want to top them you could use those tops to make clones. Topping will set them back a bit though. Whereas lower side branches will probably get removed anyway, but I'm not seeing any yet. They seem to be stretching for the light and not putting much energy in side branches. What is the light intensity?

55 w pll neon. I use only one tube now to avoid heat problems, earlier 2x55w.

In order to survive, marijuana clones must develop a rooting system. Your marijuana clones do this by using energy from carbohydrates stored within the cutting. Taking your weed cuttings from the lower branches means they will root faster and be stronger as these contain higher amounts of sugars than those taken from the tip of the mother plant.

I would generally agree with this comment from the web.....

I would not take cuttings from your plant...... A suggested I might top the plant......

IMO....save the cloning until you can take several from the plant.....

2 short, wide skunk dominant pheno of Critical+

3 tall afghan dominant Critical+ and 1 shorter skunk dom with more side branching, and a lil C+

The skunk dom plants will grow wide and bushy, the afghan dom C+ try to reach the sky so that pheno need some topping to maximalize the production of the wicked strong grapey afghan buds. The 7. young plant dunno yet which pheno.

from 6 plants 3 afghan and 3 skunk dominant for sure.

I decided to cut clones later outdoors.

some folks said in other threads that its not a good idea to cut the top in early veg cause it slows down the growth.

The main growing tip of a plant hormonally inhibits the development of lower branches. If it is your intention to eventually top the plant, then waiting too long will result in your removing most of the plant when you do shorten it down. Why not release those lateral branches from apical dominance earlier and let them get a head start?

I've had great clones taken from lower branches, but there is just something about that terminal bud in terms of vigor and tight packed flowering sites. I think here of training when all branches get tied down to prevent any one growing tip from maintaining apical dominance. The laterals will produce nice flowers but they still won't have the density of budding locations as compared to the original terminal portion.

I train my plants low and the easiest to work with for me are those pruned to grow four laterals from two nodes. With seed plants I usually wait until they've shown sex (usually node seven), then slice and dice to provide two already sexed cuttings and a low squat plant to be trained and placed into the flower room.

Lookin good man! I just did three runs with critical plus, two different phenos, did have a third but lost it. Now I don't have any but I must say i'd definitely run it again. Its potent, big yields and finishes fast. Your clones are beautiful send some my way!
