ive got some seedlings that came from nirvana ( super skunk ), but ive got one plant with really fat indica leaves and the other looks like a normal sativa/indica cross.
whats up? im guessing one of them cant be superskunk, maybe its afghani ?

Just to point you in the right direction... do a search on pheno or phenotype.

when you cross 2 plants together to make a hybrid like super skunk, some plants look like mom, some look like dad, and some are a combo of the 2.

Others will be able to explain this better than I.

Hi Smokey and others,

Yes, all factors are variable: look, growth pattern/characteristics, potency, smell, taste, color, mold/disease resistance, etc. Breeders will do backcrossing of plants to stabilize the traits but there will still be differences in even the most similar looking plants.

This is the reason why serious growers grow out many seeds of a strain to find an ideal specimen to clone from. Only after proper growing, harvesting, curing, and smoking and comparing of the best specimens can you tell when you have a winner. Detailed notes will help down the road, but this process takes time and experience to perfect. It is all this which separates the Pot Connoisseur from the Bagseed Noob (not that I'm implying you are one of these!)

Good luck!

well im gonna clone the indica one, cos it looks cool. which do you guys think i will enjoy more? the sativa/indica one, or the afghani one?

The indica one can possibly produce lots & lots of resin, but it depends on the high that you want. Also, Nirvana generally deals in f2 hybrids which will show much more variation than the f1. Definitely works really well for finding a good mom. I think you'd probably enjoy a good indica/sativa mix.

Ideally you should clone each female, because the one you don't clone will turn out good and you'll be kicking yourself. You can always toss the clone later.

isnt skunk 70% sativa? im just guessing but the more sativa one or the mixtures will likely be what you were looking for when purchasin the seeds.

It is VERY normal for hybrids to produce different phenos.

I would clone them all and after you harvest each one, decide which one to continue. I look for a fast finisher that grows hearty, yields the best and produces the best-tasting, most potent crop.

Sometimes the best choice only satisfies 3 or 4 of those criteria.

And everyone's criteria isn't the same.

Yes definitely grow out clones from all specimens, toss any males (unless you want seed), and finish, cure and smoke the different specimens (keep every plant clearly labelled so later you know which is which compared to the jars of cured herb).

Try all the specimens to determine your favourite. "Cool looking" would not be my first criteria for choosing (type/potency of buzz is), but if she smokes well then cool looking could very well be a legit criteria for you.

Bottom line is you must have different specimens for comparison before you will be able to determine the differences in the plant/smoke.

Good luck.

well super skunk is normal skunk #1 crossed back with an afghani. im not sure what ratio either has of sativa/indica.
yea i expected something inbetween, so i think i have one of those but also have a pretty pure looking indica.
