I have owned a number of presses, first i had a cheap brass one of the same design as that Cosmic Case one, worked fine for a year, but the threads quickly wore away, a sign of cheap brass material being used.

So I bought a Space Case one, identical to that Cosmic Case press and machined from very hard duraluminum as used in aircraft construction, worked great for 2 years until I put it in the oven to heat up for a coupla mins as i usually do and forgot about it and it baked for half an hour which partly melted the acrylic pins. I bought a cheap anoidsed steel one to replace it and it's the best press I've had, with the other two presses, you only got two equal sized plastic plugs and could only press a max of 1g (0.7g being a more practical max). The new press I have is 0,5mm larger in internal diameter and comes with four plugs of different sizes so can press different volumes of material - upto 3g in fact, which is a much better sized piece of hash than the tiny 0.7g pieces I made with the other presses.

The Piecemaker is WAY overpriced in my opinion, it might be the Rolls-Royce of hash presses, but you can buy a very similar stainless steel clay extruder that will do the samejob for a fifth the price FFS!

The Discmaker:
This press makes round discs up to 1/2 ounce in weight. For extra compression and a denser, darker product, you can press, then submerge the whole unit in hot water for a couple of minutes. As the crystals melt, extra compression is achieved.

The Traditional Press:
This unit comes with a mould of your choice. The finished product is square, about 1/2" thick and the same colour as the original powder. If moulds are heated at 275 °F for 1/2 an hour to an hour in the oven, when extreme pressure is applied, the powder will turn dark brown or black.

The Powerpress:
Supply your own 3 - 4 ton jack (usually around $20.00) and apply extreme pressure to super compact the powder into a dark brown or black finished product. The moulds can be heated to aid the process of decarboxylation and the change in colour. Please specify which size moulds you prefer, 1/2-1 ounce, 2-4 ounce, 8-16 ounce. -

ive got a pur press.... made by vapureyes...it can press about 3 grams in one go and makes a small disc or cylinder depending on how much you use...the barrel the diameter of the piece it produces is about the same as the little space case type presses. Its easy to use and easy to get the hash out from it, has a good result
...id like something to made nice flat 7 gram tiles though, but til then il keep boiling in the bag and using a rollin pin on the marble chopping block

Vapureyes Pure Press

Vapureyes Pure Press

Vapureyes Pure Press

WHY THE PUREPRESS? The PUREPRESS design was developed after hours of intense fiddling; trying to remove jammed hard cakes of material from “other pocket presses.”

Most pocket presses use a threaded end cap design to hold the material inside. The harder you tighten this kind of press, the harder it is to remove the material after pressing. The PUREPRESS uses a revolutionary new quick release T-Lock system.

The T-Lock is a 3-in-1 tool that ensures a struggle-free hardcore pressing session.

THE 3-in-1 T-LOCK SYSTEM

1) The T-Lock handle is first used to stomp down the PUREPRESS barrel allowing it to hold approx 3g of material in one go.

2) The T-Lock end then slots back into position and the pressing can begin. (see picture above)

3) After pressing and un-slotting the T-Lock, the T-Lock handle fits into the PUREPRESS barrel to provide more leverage for emptying the chamber.

bon

the traditional press is where its at... Gotta piecemaker, hate it, have to spend an half hour everytime to get it clean again... 1/10 of the mm correct, i don't think so... And its always a hassle to get the hasj out of the piecemaker.

Do any of these presses allow you to use your own press design to have the product come out with your own logo on it?

The purepress is a piece of crap, trics squeeze everywhere and although it comes apart, it's still hard to clean. Sent it back with plenty complaints.

Bought a piecemaker out of frustration and don't regret it. Easily press upto 14g lumps of goodness and not sure what bon was up to with his half hour cleaning session but it cleans with iso in under 5 mins. Unscrew the ends, clean the tube with iso and tissue and wipe the pvc discs clean if your too tight to buy more :)

Saying it's overpriced is probably right, saying it doesn't do it's job is laughable.
