Diesel question, very very curious

Hey guys, I've been lurking long enough, it's time to come out of the shadows and start posting!

I have a question for those who have tried the diesel strains. Do they give off a smell like real diesel? Is it dependent upon the diesel strain in question if so? I recently asked this question on another forum I frequent and I got both a yes and a no answer, both from experienced people who have tried diesel strains themselves. I appreciate any answers!

if you can get your hands on an ecsd clone you're golden, fuel all the way.

Your best seed option is rez's sour diesel ibl (lol @ ibl) but you'll have to do a little pheno hunting to find the most diesel smelling pheno, but at $160usd I don't think its worth it.

I'd start hunting for a clone...

Thanks Space. I can't get my thumbs green just yet though, but soon I will be moved into a new place I just bought so I will definitely keep that in mind. I highly doubt I'll be able to pin down a clone since I will just be getting into the hobby, so I'll probably have to stick with the sd ibl seeds. Thanks for the response, at least I know at least one strain of diesel, ECSD has that fuel smell to it.

ECSD doesnt have a smell I would associate with a combustible fuel....Sour Diesels taste profile is primarily composed of a blend of lemon, skunk, earth, and cedar/sandalwood. Some of the other memers of the diesel family do have more of an actual fuelish turpine profile ie; greasy, gassy, keroseney diesely,...some of the chem family of phenos have these more actual fuel taste/smells present....In the Ibl you will find a pretty consistent taste representation within the present phenotypes...some favoring certain characteristics in the ECSD flavor/smell profile...personally in the Ibl phenos I like the versions that lean towards the lemon side of things...DLB

Thanks for all the responses. I'm just glad to learn the actual smell of fuel within certain strains is not some urban myth Granted, my first grow probably won't produce killer buds, but I can be damn sure they'll at least be more potent than the mexi-brick that floods my area year round.

Why diesel? It has the smell but who cares, 12 to 14 week no way! I can get 2 runs through my box in the time you can do one. Sativa's are a great high but a waste off time. I have a F1 Silver Haze x Stonehedge cross 14 weeks flowering with a pound yield. I'm talking mind blowing high. Still it takes up too much space just like the diesel and takes way to long. I guess over all it isn't bad smoke though.

even if they dont if you find at least one you love the money you have saved by growing your own far covers 160 bucks

The diesel im running is a cross to stinkey pinkey and is right at a 8 to 10 week finiser with average yield but the favorite of every one that try s her a deffinit skunky fuel smell that you can smell from the street if you dont have the can fan running. it probably would make a great scrog choice but i grow a prepetual harvest so i let them veg about 2 months they usally reach 6to 7 feet . recently purcesed chem d x rezs diesel yes i love the diesel smell and a very pleasent high

Ive grown out one Sour Diesel IBL female so far and I wouldnt say it had any fuel smell to it at all. Neither did the taste, which was a nice lemony thing. Ive got a second female going at the moment and this one looks like a different pheno so maybe this is the more fuely one, I guess ill know in about 3 weeks come harvest time

Real diesel? There is definitely a fuel like undertone, sometimes more like parafin than diesel, but generally they absolutely stink of hardcore ganja.

You wouldn't mistake it for anything else that's for sure.

the best diesel pheno i have HAD came from the pacific nw usa...buds only...they were greasy and awesome...DEFINITELY TASTE/SMELL OF DIESEL FUEL IN THERE...BUT THE OVERIRDING IMPRESSION I GOT WAS GREASY, GREASY LOOKING, GREASY TASTING....FUCKIN' AWESOME TOO...STONEY AS HELL
