Did I mess up already?

Hey,

This is going to my first attempt ever at growing.

I germinated 3 seeds in a dvd-box with moist towelettes. In about 2 days they showed about a 1cm long white root. I placed these seeds then in 3 plastic cups, where I put just 1-2cm of water, some Expanded Clay Aggregate and then the dirt on top of it. The clay is supposed to hold the moisture. I also watered the cups with about 10ml water before I put them in my tent. Then I put them in the tent under a 400w SpNa light. About 2 hours after I put them there I noticed the temparature is getting far too hot, about 50Celsius (or so my thermometer told me, don't know if it was that accurate) after that two hours I raised the lamp about 40cm, put a fan in there and started cooling the tent through the window and the temparature has been around 30C since then. Now after two days they still havent sprouted, and I cannot see any root inside the cups (the cups are see-through, but when in tent I taped some paper on them so the light wont penetrate the sides. Actually one did sprout relatively fast, but it is only like 0.01mm tall and very yellowish-pale and hasn't grown since then. I watered them with about 10ml of water yesterday.

So, could this 2 hours of very hot climate have scorched my seedlings already? Or any info you have that may contribute is very VERY welcome! As I said this is my first grow and I would like to do well.

Thanks in advance!

He Frosters you're good man. As long as your soil is still moist they will come up. It's when the soil dries out that there's a problem and they might die. Just try and keep your temps lower and make sure the soil stays somewhat moist, not sopping wet, but definitely not dry, and you will have sprouts in a few days for sure.

Thanks for the heads up! I just sprayed them with water as I noticed the soil was very dry (on the top, possibly because of the lamp) and I wondered if any sprout can push through it. When I observe through the see-through plastic there are lots of water drops in the lower half, so I think that part is moist.
