Design ideas

I am going to be moving into a house within the next 3 weeks and there is going to be an open bedroom that i want to convert.

I currently have 2-1000wt Hps that id like to put over two 4x4 tables and do SOG.
I dont know the exact dimensions of the bedroom yet, But i'm assuming no smaller than 12x12. I will be running a window A/C unit at 5200btu to cool the room.

So my first question is in regards to exhaust. I've got an elicent 4" fan rated at 172cfm, I don't think that will do the job for exhausting the room. what size fan do you suggest?? Both 1000's are air cooled by a 6" elicent at 300 somthing cfm's

My second question is, Do you think i will have enough room left over after i put the tables in, To section off the room and have a small mothering area for clones?

Those are all my questions for now.. Thanks for help in advance.

you easily have room for a cloning chamber on the side of the room,

the MAX footprint your 1K's will give is 6 x6, so along one side of a 12 by 12 room, they are essentially half the room along the wall.

my only big advice i can give would be get a mills pride cabinet, or something eqvuivilent and run a 400W MH 18/6 in it, just keep it light proof so as not to posibly hermi your flowering plants, but the benefit of having clones always ready to flower is huge. and you can keep you best mother in there as well. always vegging.

rememebr while vegging you don't need the 90 to 100 w per Sqft as badly, so even a 250 W MH could work depending on the size of the cabinet to make it easier to keep cool. obviously you don't want to break the bank on your cabby.

So my max footprint is 6x6, Maybe instead of doing 4x4 tables ill do 5x5 tables. Since i dont wanna max out my lights.

Mills pride is that like a kitchen cabinet or an actual grow cab? I'm sure i could build somthing like that myself for alot cheaper.

Anyone have any input on my exhaust question?? Should i cut a hole in the ceiling and get a bigger fan or maybe an industrial style blower to exhaust into the attic.

a mills pride cabinet can be bought at home depot, they are very affordable, they''re just a blank storage box...
... back on overgrow there was a mills pride group who all used them to make their grow chambers.

i am no expert on exhaust cause i don't use big lights (i'm just stepping UP to a 250/w hps) but be careful with the amount of noise that will generate, neighbors will hear it.

climate should also be considerred when you suck air out, air will be sucking in through windows or whatever.
for your 176CFM small fan, it's very good for your plants to just blow air over the tops of the plants and use your bigger fans for exhausting the light's heat. (just turn it off for the last 2 or 3 weeks)

Depending on the hood 5x5 might be a stretch. I go 4. Plus unless you custom build a table, you cant get a 5x5 table. You could go with one 4x8 table or if running different strains, perpetual etc then 2 4x4 tables.

Maybe a light mover would help?

Also if you push them against the wall, you cant reach the plants in the back across 5 feet. I struggle with 4 feet.

And how are you going to exhaust that room? Will the lights be aircooled? If you run A/C and exhaust, you'll be wasting A/C

Pretty much agree.

Do you have 1 or 2 6" Elicents? 1 6" for 2 1000's is a bit weak but OK. The 4" Elicent will be useless to cool the flower space but will probably be OK for the veg space and fluoros work great for moms and cloning. I set up a spot with 3 shop lights with 2 4' tubes each.

I'd go with 4' x 4' tables. Butt one of the ends against a wall and make at least an 18" aisle on either side so your width would be 7' and you'd have 4' of space at one end where your entry/door could go. I've made many walls/partitions out of 2 x 2's and Panda film and created a door out of 1" 4 x 8' foamboard before that I slipped on and off but you have lots of options. Making the wall lightproof is pretty easy.

That AC would be a bit small even if a closed system but you can use it to control temps lights off if you cut air flow then odor might be an issue.

A 7 x 12 x 8 room is 672 cubic feet and I'd go with something like an Elicent 8". That will give you the option to exchange air every 60 seconds. I also recommend at least an 8" exhaust/scrubber combo...A passive intake on a room that big is tough. If you wanted just one exhaust fan and a passive intake I'd be more at to go with a 10" Elicent but that version does make a decent amount of noise cause it's moving more air but is in the same sized housing as the 8". Noise can be muffled pretty easily.

That's a pretty rough outline...you definitely need to think this through better and get a lot more info. You have lot's of options available and a lot of it comes down to the available budget.
