Senator Mike McGuire is a Democrat who loves to raise taxes. Senator McGuire was joined by Assemblyman Wood -Democrat from Healdsburg in implementing a 15% tax on medical Cannabis and giving the money to the police agencies who have harassed the people in the Medical Cannabis business for decades. These people in the Democrat Party fought against legalizing medical Cannabis for 50 years and now since the People passed their own initiative the Democrats are attempting to tax it out of existence.
Why must the people in Sacramento tax everyone so that medical cannabis goes out of existence. Once when the State Legislature was only allowed to be a “Part Time” there was a much better group of people in State Government, time to go back to those days when politicians were part time lawmakers and not full time tax thieves. California has gone from the 7th largest economy in the World to a pauper state with a "F" credit rating because of the profligate spending by Democrats, now they are going for Medical Cannabis...Vote them OUT!

SACRAMENTO April 9, 2016 - California legislative committees are considering two different bills by North Coast legislators to tax commercial medical marijuana.
• SB 987 by Sen. McGuire -D (Healdsburg) would impose a 15% excise tax on retail purchases of medical marijuana, above and beyond the current 7.5+% sales tax plus various local business taxes assessed by some localities. • AB 2243 by Asm. Wood-D (Headsburg) would impose a cultivation tax of $9.25 per ounce on medical marijuana flowers, $2.75 per ounce on leaves, and $1.25 on each immature plant sold to licensed distributors in the state.
Cal NORML opposes both bills as excessive and premature, given that the costs would fall exclusively on medical consumers, and Californians are expected to vote on a broader legalize-and-tax initiative this November, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA).
Make your voice heard, vote against those that would do away with medical cannabis with taxation. These added taxes would force the price of Cannabis up 300% many think, people would die without their medication and the Mexican Narcotic Cartels would own California.
