MY CURRENT SPECS:
4.5 x 9.5 grow tent
(2) 600w Gavita Pros
(1) 600 a/c magnetic with GE Lucalox HPS
6" MAX fan PRO connected to air cooled reflector
750w heater for night time heat and dehumidification...lol
(2) 20" box fans for air movmnt

Hey guys I have been getting my tent pretty dialed lately but a few crops back I some got Botrytis from high RH at night, 80+

So I added a small electric heater and the RH is way better now and I haven't had any mold since that one crop a few back.

Summer is coming and need a dehuey to swap out the heater for RH control.

I use tents and grow in an old garage that's not sealed or insulated. I passively intake from one gable vent into whole garage and exhaust out the opposite gable vent through the middle lights air cooled hood.

My lights are on at night. btw

Honestly Never really had enough pot in my various grow spaces over the years but since I got my latest tent dialed Im battling high RH
if I don't use that little heater.

I notice is that when I turn up the max fan to med or high the humidity climbs... I assume the heater cant dry out the air because the hot air gets sucked out too fast.

When the ladies drink they roughly each get about one gallon every other day. 8 plants = 8 gal, So that means I would need to dehumidify about 64pints in two days right? 30 pt per day?

I need a unit ready for years of use, I am not going to get one of the Home Depot or Lowes units

My budget is roughly $500 usd as I want quality not cheap

I found two dehueys I like in the 500 range and Im wondering if anyone uses them or has any other equal recommendations?

They seem legit.

Active Air 60pt commercial dehumidifier (Hydrofarm)

I appreciate everyone time and help!!

I can provide pix too just prolly will be HPS colored...lol
Thanks again for the help guys and gals!

I use a home depot haier 71pt deheuy with pump (230.xx). took 3 units to get one that the pump worked tho. so far works great. I have a 8x12x6.75' sealed room I use it in.

temps are 60 at night and 72-75 during day
RH varies
before 4wks of flower it stays at 45-50 during day and 55-60 at night
once buds get growing it rises to 60 -65 at night and upwards of 70+ when it rains out.
last fall it was still warm and rained a lot and rh was over 80 at night and I got a lil botrytis on some of the main colas....

I never was a fan of drying air to be sent out the vent. The home depot 70 pints are around 200 if memory serves me, and for your leftover you could spend 250 and get a co2 tank and regulator

Good idea but I would also need an Air conditioner.

I run exhaust 24/7.

my power situation only allows for an additional ~5.0a 120v for a dehuey.
those 70pt are upwards of 7-8a 120v. Cant do it. Plus those are not the quality I'm looking for.

The two I showed also have Steel enclosures, they are only 4.7a and 5a, while the cheapo plastic 50pt dehueys are also ~5a @ 120v.

I'm constantly reading that the cheaper dehueys have horrible reliability, and efficiency espessially in cooler night temps like what I need it for.

I was figuring I'd have to slightly over size the dehuey because I was venting the dry air out.

If I get one of these larger ones I could just put in in the garage near the tent and dry out the surrounding air so that the tent pulls in dry air not humid rainy air...

You're venting 24-7 in a very humid climate, and you're having trouble keeping the humidity down. No wonder. Stop pulling humid, spore laden air thru your room, get a dehumidifier and dehu the room not just the tent. What's your power situation? I'm confused. Are you saying you only have about 5a inside the tent or in the whole garage? Do you have more power if you plug into garage outlets? If not, you need to remedy that situation or grow less weed. I'd much rather have less healthy weed than more moldy weed.

The dehu's they sell at home depot are sometimes short lived, etc. Here's more info on the Friedrich. They are not cheapo units. Check reviews.

Yeah I noticed that it said 4-5 months, but it's also Amazon Prime which is free 2 day shipping. I'd call them for clarification. But yeah there are other sources. Allergy Buyers Club has free shipping. Good luck. -granger

Dehu Moisture Removal

Dehu Moisture Removal

Your math is fine; 64 pints in = 64 pints out:tiphat:
Where problems start arising is:
1. Ventilation - if air is damp outside, ventilating won't lower relative humidity in your grow.
2. Sizing dehu - most are rated for 80F degrees, 60%rh room conditions. Dehu's don't remove as much water from cooler, drier rooms. Water removal can drop by 50% in cool, dry rooms.:peacock:

power situation
20a 120v main garage power
30a 240v dedicated line for lights.

3.5a 6-tube t5
1.2a (2)2-tube t8
0.6a 6" MAX fan PRO 420cfm
5.5a total
+
(2) 20" box fans, idk power usage, I assume ~1a each but really have no clue

That gets me to around 7/8 amps @ 120v for the listed fans and veg lights.

RIght now I also have a 750w heater going 24/7 which is about 6a for a total of about 13/14a out of 20a @ 120v. Im trying to keep a pretty safe limit of 75% or less amp draw 24/7.

Adding the heater has helped rid the mold now for the last 3 crops, just fine.

This was my need for the BEST DEHUEY with about 5a @120v. Something to REPLACE THE HEATER IN SUMMER

BUUUUUUUUUT....

my current situation has allowed me to possibly upgrade to using a good portion of the garage via POLY tarp

the area is 9.5 x 12 roughly

The two dehuey Units I listed are not your normal box store units. They might be just perfect for a 6 or 8 light option but I can see how they would probably have been overkill for the current tent...

I was really hoping some of you guys had experience with the two I was talking about, which seem to be "better" than the freidrich to me...:moon:

I know they are no santa fe but fantech gear is usually legit, no? As far as the Hydrofarm one it was kind of made for growing weed, just in med/large scale right?

Thanks everyone for the imput I really do appreciate it. :)

As my island fam would say MAHALO :tiphat: !!!

so the build has begun!!

im currently in week 2 so I wont be able to set this gear up for about 6 mre weeks....

Seems like a legit plan
Anyone concur?

I figure I'm basically doubling my current setup , I do have a smell issue so that's the reason for the oversized carbon and O3 gen

I plan on running a half room at a time possibly doing a full shebang but I like the idea of 3 elbows per month instead of 6 every other month
plus my current veg area will not have to be modified if I stagger monthly I just need a better rack for the moms/clones/babies....

Either way shits happening, the 101 pt FANTECH is my GIRL for this build I will let everyone know how she SUCKS up that MOISTURE!!

PEACE AND LOVE FAM
