Day 31 of flower
Forum cut gsc
5.9ph 1200ppm

Been using the same schedule as I did last time, though this last week I did let them get a little dry - they've beend fed since. I also sprayed some SM90 but about an hour before lights out. What could this coloration be attributed to? I use 5ml/g of cal mag during every feeding.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd also like to add that I am running a 3 part and running Greenstone Lion Heart as a booster.

What is your initial water quality?

1200ppm on what scale? (EC is a preferable unit)

How large is the plant and pot?

Looks like N and possibly other micros to me....

Since N and micros should not be tied up at that ph or with that much cal/mg I'm going to say either they're sitting wet too much or your water is much too cold....maybe to low light for container size and water schedule...

Only other thought is maybe the coco is going toxic if it is cold or wet, and the ph has darastically shifted off point...

You could try foilaring on your nutes while youtry to figure out the drinking and soil issues...

Initial water quality is .4ec and my feed is 2.4ec

plants are about 42" and the pot is 5gal

Thanks! the water is 70F but they were very dry before i watered them, maybe 5 days. I'm hoping they'll bounce back after this feeding.

I did get a bout of PM which is why i sprayed with SM90. It seems the yellow areas on the leaves coincide with where the PM was. Only a few leaves doing this too, not all. I just hope it isn't systemic.

You want your plants to cycle faster... The fact they made it five days is a serious indicator that the medium is bound up and is holding both important nutrients and water....

My understanding is that either a flush with proper flushing solution or a top dress of gypsum will unbind the locked up soil and allow it to breath and cycle properly...

The more wet/dry cycles and feed cycles you can fit in your 90 days in going to do better... Feeding less more often will be a good start but a healthy medium should be able to be fully saturated and dry out in 3 days tops or it is doing harm.... IMO...

Good news is coco has no CEC... Flush and try again.... Use a feed program if you don't understand plant nutrients and their indicators...

Thanks for this info. I'll do more research!

1.5EC is usually the high point, where were you directed to feed so high? 1.0-1.3 is average (total EC, including tap water).

Watering by wet dry cycles is not adviseable, medium EC rises and burns roots. Wet to moist to establish transplants until they dry out daily.

Overfeeding that much limits water uptake.

Read the stickies and megathreads in the coir subforum. A lot of what you're saying is from the soil paradigm, I even get the impression you aren't feeding with every water.

Cheers

Thank you, everyone for the help. I just wanted to reply and let you guys know that I fixed my issues with a flush and 1.3EC feedings. This place is awesome.

glad you fixed your problem!
best in coco is to start off with 6.2-6.4 in veg and take down slowly in flower over 3-4 weeks to 5.8-5.9... a little drift is totally fine!
also feed each time & every time, best min of 3 x a day in flower, no need to go over 1.5 EC ever.. flush once every 10 days with full strength nutes once they are rootbound...
to keep things in check calibrate your pens once a week and do slurry test of your media.. that way nothing can go wrong!
coco is easy
good luck!
