Can anyone tell me if they think its worth it? I think its a good deal comparing on other prices i've checked. I also have skunk #1 seeds to try it out u think theyd be good for that set up? This is my first grow.

Does the price include delivery??

It would prolly be ok for getting started. (the fans sound weak, and batwing reflectors are usually cheapies)

No delivery included, its pick up only but hes only about 5 imnutes away from my house

Not too long ago I built a cabinet for a very good friend. The financial details follow. This cabinet is 4'w x 2' deep x 5'h. It would not have cost even a penny more to build it to the size you mentioned. Plywood comes in 4'x8' sheets so the smaller size essentially just means more scrap.

As I recall the materials cost $200 - $300. My friend paid for all the materials so I didn't really care what it cost and I wasn't keeping track.

I got 2 ounces of mid-grade weed for my troubles. (It was good smoke and all properly dried and cured. It was just a step or two down from the top, which is what I would prefer to smoke during the day because I am going for pain relief, not stupid.) Any dollar value to the pot would have to be on a wholesale basis, which means around $350 - $450. I included the cool tube, 400w ballast and 400w MH bulb, but I got his T5, 4', 4 tube. I'm not a real greedy kinda guy, so I never even looked to see how that came out monetarilly - don't know, don't care. Oh, and I helped him deliver it and move it into his grow room - not an easy task down a narrow hallway with hardwood floors! I will point out that this guy is a very good friend and I was doing him a real big favor, which is what friends are all about. If I were going to build this for John Q. Public, you'd be looking at a price tag of around $2,500 labor + all materials.

This is a nice cabinet; completely plug 'n grow. It was constructed more like a house than like a box. Since it is double walled, it is 100% lightproof. Below are a few pics and comments.

Starting from the ground up, this floor has framing underneath the plywood. This framing is cut with a slight drop towards the center, where a drain will be installed. It's a PITA to do this because it requires a lot of extra custom cutting and a lot more framing members in the floor. But, when done this way, the floor drains really nicely and that makes farming a little bit easier.

This photo is rotated 90*. It' the end wall that has the built-in vent duct. When the inside wall is added, and the appropriate holes cut inside and out, it will be a duct equivalent to about 6" round duct. Before installing the interior wall, all interior surfaces of the "duct" are painted flat black for light-proofing purposes.

Mid construction.

Finished cab control end.

Front view w/o door

Fan mounting

cool tube vent exit

Inside electric. Fan has a speed control. There are both timed and un-timed duplex receptacles.

Real door, door jamb, door hinges, door lock. This puppy is light and air proof and it's going to stay that way because real doors don't warp and plywood doors do.

Outside intake vent

Inside intake vent

Front view.

I'm not sure why I posted all this crap. I'm just trying to give you an idea of value and what things might cost. $400 probably isn't a bad price - and the basic structure is there so it would be fairly easy to upgrade to a quality cab if you ever wanted.

It's a deal csedge. A fair price for a starter package. If I were you I'd take it. And as PharmaCan pointed out you can easilly upgrade it at any point. I would take the deal. What was the point I was trying to make again? Right, right. take the deal, but only if the deal is right for You. Peace

I would first say that for $400 I can build a killer cab. Store-it-all armoire, econolights, stanley blower, this-n-that, etc...
Thing is, I already have a good handle on what it takes to make things work, having sprouted and grown lots and lots of seeds in closets.

Being a first time grower, something like this deal would get you set-up and be a great teacher. I am certain that it lacks the air flow it needs, but you will figure that out.
I'd say money isn't the issue from the sound of your inquiry, but more value.
IMO, you have a good value to take advantage of there. A real nice fixer-upper.

Oh, one more thing...that 400HPS is actually a 400CMH. If you haven't yet, you need to read the first pages of the Ceramic Metal Halide thread.

Other than the fact you've told someone about your (intended) grow, I'd say it's a good deal.

freezerboy makes a valid point . also, that is a BIG, heavy cabinet. you are either going to need a dolly, or a friend to help you get it into your grow room. if a friend helps you, now there are TWO other people that know about your grow, plus any neighbours that see you wheeling in a large, home-made box are going to have their curiosity piqued. if you live in a jurisdiction where you might be crucified for a small grow you might want to re-think this. i am assuming that you are not a DIY person, so building your own box is out of the question ? how much herb do you need to grow; could you go with a smaller, innocent looking armoire from home depot ?

price-wise this is a fair deal and will get you growing, but the security aspect of it needs some thought.

My roommate will be helping me move it, he also will be helping me in the grow process, since i work alot and with school and all. I was thinking that it just kind of looks some osrt of storage thing if anyone looked at it but that will be the thing. i was thinking move it into my house probably with a blanket or sheet over it. I'm not really worried about moving it out of his house though, just into mine i was thinking the sheet or blanket would work i would just say it was very fragile dresser and couldnt get scrathed. If i even get a question from someone but i doubt i will hopefully.

Anyways i'm pretty hes going to give me the hydro set-up too, I told him i didnt want it cause that'd make it out of my price range but he said for a mountain bike he'd give me everything else

There are lots of legit reasons to have locked cabs in your garage. I have a couple cabs in my garage that hold computer servers, hence the ventilation. Why are they locked and why can't I open them? Well, they're secure servers - DOH!!!

If you're moving the cab along with a relocation move, you should be safe. It won't seem out of place and, anyway, everyone in the new neighborhood will avoid you like the plague until after the heavy lifting is done. lol
