DEAD, SHRIVELED, Babies--Help me save them...

It was recommended I ask for help here in the infirmary, but that was before they died :(

Bad News this morning folks...

I woke up to a frightening sight. All 3 of the big plants had shriveled and almost collapsed. I immediately went to the Grow Strore and bought some good fox farm soil, fox farm liquid vegetative growth nutriets, and some vermiculite. I mixed the vermiculite and soil to a 60/40 soil/vermiculite mix. I then transplanted all three of the sick plants into one pot (I have very little hope for them, and if one does come back to life, I will give him his own home, or leave him when I pull the weak shriveled ones).

The plant that was grown from seed in the miracle grow soil looks great. It is dark green, had a great root ball, and I think will thrive in the new soil.

I am going to hold off on the nutes pending your recommendations.

Here are the pics.

Here is the original grow thread, where you can see before the death pictures:

Thx for all the help!

my rather limited intelligence says these didnt get any water too long

see, if i WAS smart, id check your previous post before writing the previous.. apparently overwatering... and then you stopped doing that.. then you say they look better, but the next day this?? Could it be the bad rooting from the over-watering, was followed by a complete dry out?

Pretty much. They were thriving when watered daily in the really mulchy miracle grow stuff, and then when I stopped for 3 days, per recommendation, the soil dried up hard as a rock, and froze out the plant. 12 hours later this was the result.

Any hope for saving them?

proper moisture levels (NOT dried out, NOT soaking in water) might revive them... might not. Light moisture, it has to feel "wet" but when you squeeze the soil, no excess water should run out. Damp.

What kind of fox farms are you using? Use Happy Frog for seedling; then Oceans' forest as they get older.....works well for me anyway.

Yes, sounds like they got too dry.....I worry less about seedlings staying too wet than getting too dry. If you have good drainage in your soil and pot it's hard to really overwater to the point that you kill off your plant. IF you have good drainage.

No nutes; easly lighting; ph correct water only for awhile. Good luck.

if they were dry, then water accordingly and hope they make it. If you just transplanted them, its likely you will lose one or more.

I am slowly watering them, each day about 3/4 of a coffee cup full with a couple of drops of fox farm liquid nutes mixed in. Every leaf if dead on all 3 plants, but the stems don't seem to have completely given up. I am still hoping...

that happened to me with my first grow which started out hydro.. the pump failed and they ended up lookin like that... i didnt check'm for a few days... long story, i put'm in a bucket of water, soaking the entire pot, leaving them in there for about 2 mins... then i watered them regularly and they pulled thru..

..in the middle of that i switched from the drip system to a hempie bucket. this was before i found ic :D

if the miracle gro was "organic choice" that's your reason. It is not suitable for seedlings (and probably not for plants in general). I've seen plants do that overnight because of the "organic choice."
