Uh, most definitely. All cannabis cultivation is illegal and upon connecting the dots (your grow equipment + the aborted plants) they would most likely have more than enough to convict you. Only way I'd say you could get away with it is if you completely rid your area of cannabis. For example: if all they found was grow equipment and nothing pot-related, they shouldn't be able to convict you as growing equipment is legal. But, the moment they find that one leaf or those clones or whatever, you'd be screwed. They could always start up an investigation on you after this though (if they didn't find anything) so you'd have to hold off for a good while and then get the hell out of there.

oh they sure can. the best thing to remember is " i do not consent to any searches ". if they had enough for probable cause they would not ask. check knowyourrights.com for more info on how to protect yourself.

Obviously you shouldn't consent to a search.
But that can also hurt you in the end. Here's how. What if you don't have a means to get rid of absolutely ever scrap of marijuana? All you did was piss them off by denying them the power they hold so dear. So when you say "no, go get a warrant" and they find something to nail you for, you best believe you're going to get a governmental ass ramming like you've never had before.
I personally believe if you've got too many plants and you know you can't get rid of all the evidence, just co-operate, they'll take that into consideration. You've been greedy and you have noone to blame but yourself.
If you have a couple of plants and you can easily get rid of them without leaving any traces behind....tell them to get a warrant, get your ass in gear and get rid of that shit.

Never consent, no matter what. Even if you make them get a warrant, that has no effect on what you get charged with.
