Day / Night temp. inversion for height control indoors

Hey all, I was thinking back to my greenhouse days. This old timer would drop the first few hours of the morning temps to below the night set point to slow the plant growth. Don't recall if it was Poinsettias or Easter Lillies, the latter I think.

Anyway I suppose the same thing would work for our plants. Has anyone done this for some lanky sativas ?

Given this is inside a tent, you'd get condensation form for a while in the AM. That would evap during the day, or run under the liner and collect.

It would likely add some time to you flowering length. It would be hard to set up the controls like that too for us working with limited technology and cash.

Any other thoughts ? Pro ? Con ?

The most common plant growth regulators (PGRs) used in greenhouse crop production are the plant growth retardants used for controlling stem elongation, which results in shorter plants.
An early morning DIF or DROP, which lowers the growing greenhouse or tent temperature before lights on, can help control plant growth. When using DIF or DROP, most growers lower the temperature 5°F-12°F off the average grow temp before lights on. However that can slow down the cycle and add more time to the already long sativa growing cycle...

That's what i was thinking. It's gonna be long enough as it is for some of these landraces. I was just curious if anyone had tried this approach. Your right the temp diff was only a little as you mention. Not worth the hassle I suppose for a small indoor grow that can manage the canopy horizontally.
