So ive read no more than 10 to 15 degrees in temp from day to night, but ive never read a reccomendation like this one for humidity... can anyone help....?
You want a constant high humidity in veg through early flower and then reduce it to a constant low humidity of 40 to 50 % in mid to late flowering.
Bear in mind that humidity tends to rise during lights out. Besides using a dehumifier with electronic controls for time and humidity levels running a fan aimed at the tops helps too---especially if the humdity is too high in flowering.
Quick question guys...I'm almost at the end of my current grow(day 60) and during lights on my humidity is anywhere between 38-45, sometimes 48% and during lights out its anywhere from 48-54%. I was wondering if that 54% at night sometimes is bad and COULD cause bud rot? It's not to often that it is that high but when I checked it tonight it was. Please let me know asap as I don't need any bud rot right before harvest, and thank you all for your help !!!!
There's no way you're going to get moldy buds from just over 50% RH with live flowering plants but after chopping you want below 50% RH environment to hang them in or you could have problems
During lights on, fans or circulating all day and humidity is 28% - 33%. Lights off brings humidity up to 50% or so. Is this bad? Should I do something to make it more constant?
If necessary I can add another fan and hook up the duct work for the carbon scrubber and Vortex, which I'd imagine would keep things in check.
mimic nature. dawn has dewpoint. good time for agressive foliar feeding @ ph 6.8. ^rh ok before stomata opening after being closed for night.
@ mid-day plant is @ hottest in and out. spray of foliar cools down+increases rh.
comfort zone is 35-65%. plant changes that during the day via evap/transpiration. maintain comfort zone and permit plant to regulate its own gas/vapor exchange.
important point is to have adequate oxygen, water available to roots so as to regulate stomata opening closing when plant wants to. it is non-linear, but plants generally exhale c02 @ night, while in day use it to make simple sugars. w/ higher night rh, plant can focus on energy distribution rather than trying to add water to atmosphere.
so, if manipulating night rh, would increase it to comfort-zone max. then plants can concentrate on other functions.
I would say yes especially for the first 30 days.Just because you change photoperiod doesnt mean you're in flower, your plant continues vegging for some weeks and a higher humidity level is desirable.I'd use a cool mist humidifier the first few weeks of 12/12 and I think you'll see a faster healthier stretch.I'm in the first week of 12/12 myself right now but I'm actually having to use a dehumidifier to keep around 60% RH which I prefer during the stretch.I'm in a sealed room too
A cool mist humidifier close in front of an oscillating fan is a spidermites worst nightmare besides bringing up RH when conditions warrant it.They literally cant get a foothold.I've never misted my indoor plants with a bottle
Don't have the floor space, my oscillating fans are all wall mounted. I don't have a terrible mite problem, just one strain that seems to be really susceptible to mites. Will bring the RH up though and see what happens with that.
I get the southern red spidermite.I check the underside of a leaf for eggs every week like a robot lol.If I could have sex with a no pest strip I'd marry it she's saved me so many times
Yeah that's what I do, just check the leaves. Sometimes they're clean, sometimes I find a eggs or a mite or two. Hasn't been a real problem yet, I always get them before they have a chance to breed and spin web.
