Darwin's White Widow Grow

I wouldn't be going bananas with de-foliating her this late into flower, it's only going to stress the plant out unnecessarily. Getting more light on the buds doesnt make the buds grow any bigger, you'd rather have the light on the huge fan leaves covering those buds to convert into chlorophyll. Just LST the buds out a bit more so that they catch the light without removing the fan leaves i say.

Hows the stank from the WW this far into flowering? And agreeing with PENGUIN59. a little to late BUT..... i have cut my tops about a 1 1/2 weeks before harvest so my lower buds can bulk up. just food for thought :)

Hi D. defoliating plants isn t what I would do. It s not about chlorophyll like penguin mentioned but he is right about the fact of not doing it.

In fact fan leaves are the energy makers they re the leaves who uses the sunlight (through the help of chlorophyll) and uses CO2 to transform the nutriments you give the plant in the soil into nutriments the plant can absorb.

PHOTOSYNTHESIS

if you d like i make it a little less simple as soon as I have more time.
That s your call D about defoliating but i m sure you would not remove the wheels of your car before using it

See u mon ami.

lol alright guys i'll leave it be and see how it pans out. you have to remember though that the plant sends more of its energy and growth into those sections receiving more light. if you remove some of the big fan leaves that are over shadowing the lower buds they will theoretically enlarge. why do you think the lower branches of bud hidden away at the bottom of the plant or in the centre of it are always really spindly and have no bulk to them? they get no light even though they're the same distance from the stem/root system. the plant invests more into those parts exposed to the light. anyway, i'll leave it be and we'll see haha cheers guys

Remember D lower branches will always get less light than upper ones with or without fan leaves near them,, light bulbs do not have this ability... too bad... Use a light meter and you ll see how impressive it is.

yeah i'm just worried about the branches in the middle of the plants more than the very bottom ones. but i might LST them out a little if anything.

very angry today... turns out the timer has been broken for i don't know how long (a day or so i'm guessing) and has just had the lights on 24hrs.... what a piece of junk, i bought it only a few months ago from the local hardware store! grrrr anyway nothing to do now but leave them in at least 24hrs of darkness and hope for the best, they're only a week or 2 away from harvest.

yeah i'd probably agree with that, the buds are a little bigger than on #1 too i've noticed. it'll be interesting to compare the smoke of the two

They should be OK. I only buy the good timers now. One of mine is so loud I want to throw the thing!

hehe yeah, the ballast is worse and the fan in the tent for me... it's just barely audible outside of the room but enough to hear the low pitch buzz while they're on.

Good luck with the plants Darwin. Yeah, i've had some timers go out on me before. That's why i check every day now. You might also be seeing some differences between the plants based off of their responses to the light mishap. One might be more sensitive/faster to respond to the change in lighting.

Good point there, 3rdEye! Yeh i guess Darwin will be able to see the more photosensitive plants in his collection haha. Be interesting to see.
