I suddenly have something arcing in the main power line coming in the house. This is new dont think it has anything to do with my grow lights. However, I MUST turn off the power in my grow room temporarily. I have to cut the lights today 2 hours before they are supposed to go off anyway. So as long as I get this situated ill only cut the lights 2 hours early one time... Im in 12/12 about 10 days from harvest. Will this have a negative effect on my girls?

Not at all. Think of it as a cloudy period.

Also your plants aren't wearing watches unless you put them on so they won't tell 2 hours. They move slow it takes them like a full hour to totally droop into rest mode after lights turn off

Your power problem is hilarious though. Whoooo that's crazy shit. Lol its not something arcing that's the juice itself you are seeing in itself raw form. Stay the fuck back... when I say hilarious not from a safety standpoint, but I'm a contractor we laugh when crazy shit happens or we wouldn't do it...

Hey thanks for the feedback. I don't know what the hell happened. I was setting up a grow tent to get a mother plant going and I kicked a extension cord that pulled out the light socket and that kind of exploded. Ha ha I know that's hilarious shit. Anyway I noticed The main power line crackling and popping and arcing shortly after that happened so there's something there. Luckily My wife's father is an electrician and a major pot smoker. he's on his way over. I didn't think just a couple of hours would make a big deal but I wanted to make sure.

No. Just keep the lights off until the problem is fixed. Keep them on the exact same schedule. Extra dark won't hurt at all. Light during dark period is bad. Turn the power off and fix the situation. If the power was off for an hour or so than it should just stay off until lights on the next day.

Well we solve the problem at least temporarily. Seems like there may have been a pinhole in the cable housing of the main power line coming into the house so we ducked taped it up excuse me we electrical tape it up and everything seems to be fine for the moment. Fortunately he's coming back tomorrow and we're going to rewire the entire system and set everything up so that it's very very safe.

Glad to see you've got competent help and you'll get it working safely. I was on the national electrician site couple of years ago, and looked at a list of accidents. Most people that get seriously or fatally shocked never even touch anything. They get close and the juice arcs to them cuz they're grounded. Causes serious char burns like almost instantly, even when the connection is quickly broken. Good luck. -granger

Whever I start a new piece of electrical equipment, even a timer, or a power strip, I always give it a "monitor'ed burn in" period.

I just make sure I'm there for the first few hours that it's running, because I've had a variety of close calls. e.g. melted timers.

Along the lines of fire-works ... once I was working at a place that makes UPS' (big ones) and somehow, a UPS with 18 car batteries worth of juice ... shorted.

It made a plasma ball like in Terminator 2 when they do the time-travel and it cuts through the truck with a spherical-shaped cut.

The circuit boards, metal, everything, was cut away, about the size of a soccer ball.

It looked (and smelled like) it turned into smoke and molten metal.

That UPS was about the size of a large microwave.

As far as time, I used to go 11/13 because I thought that it helped the plant "get the message" that it's time to flower.

Now I'm more like 11 1/2 / 12 1/12. I use the old mechanical timer and when I'm setting the little plastic things I like to set it 'one over' from 12/12. Maybe it's 11 3/4 - 12 1/4 hours.

Thanks Granger and yes Im lucky as shit... looking back on the whole situation Im lucky I'm alive. I actually touched things I had no idea I definitely shouldn't have touched. Since working on the issue with my father in law I have learned a lot. Good thing too. Im getting to be a pretty good grower and it looks good that medical MJ is going legal where I am very soon. I would love to be a grower and get involved in the industry. Im setting up my personal grow room in a much more professional manner now. I will be able to take this knowledge with me in the future...
