i just noticed something that actually made me feel real good. now, i dont want to seem vain but once my k went past 1000 i started paying attention. ill be honest. i dont much care what the world at large thinks of me. i can acknowledge my faults and i do. but i do care how my family here views me because here i can be my real self for what its worth. and while i get plenty of brutal honesty from yall, it is always served with a spoonful of sugar. that being said. i noticed my post count is 1650 and the karma everyone has sent me is 1609. that averages out to k on almost every post i have made from the get go. i dont think i am that special but you guys do. thanks. :)

I just checked with a member that had 1108 rep points today.

I gave him a scales rep bringing his tally to 1191 ~ an 83 point bump.

then I did a helpful post rep adding another 20 points for a 1211 total, that's 103 points for giving a double to someone in that position.

If I double rep someone that has 5,000 posts & 5k rep points then I'd likely give them about 85 or 90 points.

When receiving reps from a member with 1,000 posts I'll get 1 rep point added to my tally, if they have 5,000 posts I'll get 4 or 5 rep points from them, this is when they're using the 'Helpful post' rep function; if they were to use the Scales rep to give me a K+ then I'd likely get 5 or 6 points from the 1K guy & 15 points from the guy w/5K posts.

there are a good handful of members that have a more profound effect on my rep tally when I get either type of reps from them but for the most part my numbers inch their way north at an alarmingly slow rate.

:) that's life :D better to give than to receive.......

check your score right now bbb & then in 10 minutes or so.

checked and noted. on the topic of rep points, what does it mean when someone positive rep points you but the dot is grey? i have quite a few of these and cant figure what it means. thanks again to everyone. i dont give it out as often as i should but i am gonna start blessing peeps more often just cause i know how good it feels.

all of the members that give/gave you grey reps have less than 1000 posts, as soon as they hit 1000 posts they start giving green reps, again @ the rate of about giving 1 rep point for each 1000 posts they have.

Someone gave me a red karma square not too long ago.

Wondered how that is possible.

Well you know, grey squares, green squares.

Red is negative. They took away this option not too long ago.

We could also rate a post as unhelpful before also.

sorta wrong LEF,
if you use the scales rep you can choose the I disapprove function as shown below:

but in order to complete a red rep you're also compelled to add a message to that rep, I suppose you could just type a period in the message box, idk. usually when I give a red rep to somebody I've also got plenty to say :D

but you are correct in that they did take away the Unhelpful post option leaving only the Helpful .

Contrary to popular belief not many members join or stay here for the reputation count, most unlike you, join to receive and or to give advice on our common interest ...
