That is neat as can be. Very few people will ever get to see such as that.

just heard a gunshot ..momma prob went to neighbors and tried to get to trash warning shot most likely..wasn't long ago they shot a momma and her cubs..game warden said once cubs are trained to eat garbage they get destroyed too...that's sad as people are responsible ...in say shoot the person leaving the trash out in bear country...bears are very common here but its rare to be so close to momma and cubs...

when we go grouse hunting we run high risk, bear are out looking for the last good fatty meals before winter hibernation, we've crossed paths numerous times w/mama bear & cubs and can keep calm, but our dogs are less predictable. when mama bear sees or hears dogs she's thinking wolf and too often goes into attack mode.

it's a good thing I don't like bear meat, I've got prime acreage for bear in my back yard, runs right down to the river, between the river & my home (a 1/4 mile span) are 3 or 4 old wild blueberry patches.

out back here by the river is berries too and grapes but they are gone now for the most part..we have roving bears as tourists and just generally dumb people leave trash and easy food sources...there s always a few bears shot to protect humans..well its the humans causing the problems lol...I aint a big fan of bear meat either but I have had some that was prepared for me that was ok...its the last on my list of wild game tho anyhow and I only kill to eat now...I got mine when younger and don't want trophies anymore...

I've got some friends that are bear hunters and bear salami & sausage are great!

The damn things are all over around here - a few years ago when the state was forcing all of the dumps to close down, the 20 or so bears that used to dine there nightly decided to get closer to the fine cuisine that they were accustomed to. Fish & Game wound up relocating them, but for a while it was pretty interesting around town.

We still get sporadic visits, though. One night this fellow on the left spotted one behind my house and thought that it would be fun to play with - any kind of an animal is a friend that he hasn't met yet. It turned out that the bear had no intention of playing, and made his opinion known pretty emphatically. The dog beat me back to the house and was pretty quick about doing his business for the next couple of months.

lol.. I have plenty of bear experience but feeding and momma bears are unpredictable...she didn't seem to care much that I was there..might be bad news for her at some point if she aint afraid of humans...it usually doesn't end well for the bear...

XD Bear sausage is amazing.

Had a bear trolling the property we worked on last year. One day the partner walked in to the reservoir room, and quickly walked out hehehe. Apparently Winnie the Pooh prefers molasses supplements over honey.

I chased him away with a chainsaw.

I can see NYC skyline from my backyard (about 35miles away) and I must use bearproof trash containers. We get them wandering about here all the time. A couple years ago they crashed through my garden, fewer buds that year. My neighbor is a beekeeper and he puts plywood sheets out with 8p nails through them around his hives. He ain't fuckin around!

Bears are awesome :D

back home, when I was about 13 years old, out on a camping trip way up in the Andes, we got to watch in the wild for some seconds the only bear species found in South America, the Frontino Bear, now in danger of extinction (thanks to idiotic humans).

I have seen many Bears, but not one like that, it's very beautiful.

I spent 3 years in Alaska. I had a walking stick with bells on it to warn the Bears I was around and carried a 44 Mag.

The Bears usually took off when they heard or saw you (they would be eating berries mostly). I was more worried about Moose with calfs than bears.

Ate some good bear sausage though.

The outdoors can be beautiful. :peacock:
