D x K, A Humboldt Hybrid

Looks like if it was grown larger it has potential to throw off a crapload of resin.
Is this your first run with it? What does it smell like... any "old school skunk" going on there?
What's your setup like... lighting in particular is what I'm curious about. They look very healthy but possibly not getting a lot of light... ?? There's something strange about 'em... but they look real nice!

never grew the strain but it looks like she lost some major fans earlier on, hence the choppy uneven look, i have plants going through that now and it aint fun... u grow this with the meta line?

the buds would be plumper with more leaf to absorb light etc etc etc elementary biology/botany....hence your guess there dankbank.vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

Well, the D x K just grows how you see it. it puts out that many fan leaves, it hasnt lost any.

There is no reason for it to lose any it gets a very balanced meal plan and has a very very good soil mixture. It's not the grower, its how the plant grows my friends.

The fact that it puts out such little leaf is why i like it, it is a BREEZE to trim. and a very heavy yielder if grown large. a friend got 1.25lbs per KW with plain water.

The history of this strain is this:

The original mother plant is called The D, made by a master breeder in Texas who introduces the best strain, in his opinion, of each year in to his strain, called The D(the mother).

In 1995 The D was crossed to a male of a plant called Hong Kong, seeds were sent to Kansas in 1996 and grown out, in '97 the seeds hit Humboldt and its been around the South County since then, been under wraps but now is the time to spread it around.

It is ideal for growing here in the wet humboldt climate as the rockhard nugs up and down the plant dont really allow much for mold to set in when the humidity goes up which is very nice.

My feeding schedule is as follows:

MetaNaturals weeks 1-5
0-7-0 Supertea + 2-3-2 Companion GB03 weeks 5-7

For additives:
Week 2: Bushmaster
Week 3-7 Top Max (1/2 strength weeks 3,4,5 full week 6,7)
Week 6-7 Gravity
Week 7-8 Shooting Powder

I cut the food out after the feeding on day 50 of 60, they just get water + whatever additive they're gonna get they only get straight water after day 56. I water 3x a week, water, food, water.

My medium is as follows :
1 bag FFOF
1 bag royal gold

For every 2 bag mix I add 2 gallons extra of chunky perlite. I wish the heads at royal gold would add some larger chunks in to their coir, then i could cut perlite out.

Been working great as you all can see.

Al'right...fer starters...^^^^^...tha History of this, DxK, seems a lil' Far Fetched ta me...but, then again, who am I ta say whether it's true or not? :chin:

With that said...I recently received a "sample" of tha DxK...and when I say "sample"...I actually mean a sample branch...fresh off tha vine. :smoke:

Tha calyx ta leaf ratio is 'indeed' some of tha best I've ever seen...this plant is literally a 'trimmers' dream plant...I'm, personally, a slow-ass trimmer and I could prolly trim a QP o' DxK in an hour...very nice. :canabis:

Tha fresh cut smell o' DxK is good...it reminds me of a BlueBerry cut I've held fer tha last 7-8 years...good ol' Green Bud.

Tha dried & cured smell is a lil' different...almost has kinda a Bubblegum-esque smell to it...which carries through to inhale & exhale...it seems ta have a 'kushy' tone in tha background as well. :chin:

On tha 1-10 scale:

Smell: 8.5
Flavor: 8
Potency:8
Bag Appeal: 8.5
Calyx/Leaf ratio: 10
Growth Characteristics: ?
Type of High: 8...Balanced...Head & Body

Overall I'd give it an 8.5...an ya better believe that calyx ta leaf ratio is a big factor in that... :sasmokin:

I'd definitely like ta give DxK a trial run...ta get a better idea of it's potential. :smoke:

hh~ Ya say it's a 60 dayer?

Take 'er eazy, IGT

Glad ya liked her IGT!! Ya know damn well had somethin' lil more to do than just the leaf ratio of her :yummy: ;)

She's a personal favorite for sure, can smoke it all day long and it just keeps gettin' ya higher...

I pulled her at 60, im going to do some at 8.5, 9, and 10 weeks just to see where shes most pronounced in each department while maintaing her balance.

As far as the growth, larger plants grow just like the smaller versions

Here she is a week or so out, the tips of the flowers tinged lavender =P

Larger plants branch very very well and put off a bunch of rockhard golfballs
