Cuttings

I went a little crazy taking cuttings from my 6 plants. I took 3 each which gave me 18 and all survived. I was also gifted 4 sour deisel cuttings which also all survived. Two of the plants are male so I will dump those. This gives me 4 female plants (3 northern lights and one unknown sativa from bag seed) which is perfect for my 400w closet. The problem is, what do i do with my remaining 16 cuttings which are now rooted in 3 inch pots? Thats too many plants for my closet. They are currently veging (hopefully slowly) in a large plastic bin under two sets of fluro shop lights). When my 4 plants finish flowering it will free up my closet which is way to small for 16 plants.. Any ideas? I hate to waste them. I was thinking of doing a scrog but still dont have enough room.

You could keep one or two of them to take clones from for your next grow. It doesnt take much light to sustain them and this will give you another batch to flower when these are done. It does get tough to kill them but you can only have so many. I would flower a couple extras and after a month you will see which ones to keep and ditch the others.

18 clones are smaller than 18 plants from seed; stunt them a little, and when your others come out, put all of those in; a perfect sog. maybe keep 1-4 clones for moms...

I normally always take too many cuttings,2 to 3 per plant so I definately dont lose the pheno,I plant all that root in 4 inch pots and cull the less vibrant ones after a couple weeks under the floro, get used to killing plants man its no big thing.

try and veg them for as long as possible, keep topping them and keeping their size down for 2-3 months, then plant them outside when its warm enough, they will be huge by harvest time.

keep 4 as moms - low light and nutrients, constant pruning, and smaller containers or root pruning, can keep them small.

and cull/kill the rest - or give them to someone if you are in a position to do that - sucks but ya gotta do what ya gotta do

edit: another alternative is to go perpetual SOG or scrog stylee and start 2-4 plants into flower and then 2-4 weeks later start another 2-4 into flower and so on. This is what I do in my cabinet which is smaller than most closets. I have 2 plants that are in the sweet spot and given plenty of room. Then I have another 2 that are 4 weeks behind them also getting good direct light. Then I'll squeeze another 2 plants in the cabinet to fill in the darker corners often times in the shadows of the bigger plants that are close to finishing. Then I chop two and rotate 2 more in. It's alotta work and I advise having a drying area with carbon filter as you will be chopping a plant or two every week or two (since I grow many different strains it seems to be due to finishing time once I got started I'm chopping one every week), however it seems to me to be more productive then growing 4 plants all at the same stage as you always have those less productive corners of the garden, this way all your plants end up spending 4-5 weeks in the sweet spot and you make better use of the less productive space for early flowering of the next round.
