cutting back to the rootstock and Deadheading

I was wondering. I wasn't too start saving mother plants in a more structured manor. I've been tossing away any mother that was too unruly or just cutting the whole plant into cuttings.

Now my question is, can I cut back the branches of my marijuana plant, the same as I would cut, say, a Rose bush? I was at a Rose Garden the other day, and they cut back to the roostock or graft union.

It's this possible for my marijuana plants as well? Some plants do not take well to that.

Next.

Can my mother plant be saved just by simply deadheading the fruits/buds off and giving the plant more container space? (I.e. transplanting)

roses are woody perennials, cannabis is an herbaceous annual. I would definitely not cut your mother plant down to her roots. Cannabis doesn't typically need to be grafted onto regionally specific rootstock (<- just one reason why horticulturist would graft a rose cutting) so, they will not have a graft union or rootstock. They typically just grow regular on their own roots.

as far as deadheading motherplants, I'm assuming you've flowered your motherplants and that's why you are asking ... you want to save the last bottom buds/ larfy flowers in order to reveg from those spots. In cannabis the buds will turn into stems after a vegetative lighting schedule has been reestablished.

so that's a no as well.

you can however, feed your cannabis plants food designed for roses ... also, they both like the same full sun exposure ... but, that's about it as far as treating your cannabis like your roses.
