Never have, never will.each fan leaf is a sugar factory.i only chop if they are shading buds of other plants.

Neither...Just tuck em away.

good advise, if not 50% damaged/yellow
just tuck the leaves under the canopy
they spring back so it must be done often

i usually keep all leaves.

unleass i am doin scrog, or lst.

then if i remove a grow shoot, i remove the leaf that was there also. i remove quite a bit of shoots because if you have 100 bud sites, you wont get 100 big buds. i try to make an even canopy of bud sites about 2 weeks into flower.

somtimes it requires minimal trimming, and sometimes it requires alot. it depends on the veg time, and how bushy it is.

generally after 2 weeks of 12/12 there is a little bit of stretch, and you can tell where the main bus will grow. thats when i tie the plant back down, and trim off all the pointless bud sites.

doing this makes the nutes provided available to the buds that need it.

Thanks guys for all your input. I see these pic with no leafs and all buds growing. That must be right before harvest.

I cut all but a few fan leaves with about 2 weeks left in flower.

I trim back fan leaves if they're in the way. Usually cut off the outter half, reducing the plants overall radius.

I prefer to tuck them, but after a certain point there's too many leaves tucked under the canopy and it shades too many other bud sites and reduces airflow. If you have them packed in pretty tightly, it's just necessary sometimes.

I've never noticed it hurting the plants in the least, and the lower parts become more responsive because they're now getting more light and are less cluttered.

hahaha...y'all are kidding right?

Yes Boevo, since NITROGEN is tapered-off towards the end of flowering the fan leaves may yellow, shrivel ,and fall off depending on the strain and environment. Sometimes they stay on it just depends on the situation.

Some growers take these leaves off, others recommend against this. Some say the leaves that are yellow suck up otherwise useful energy and hide other budz, some say if you take these leaves off the other leaves extend- raising your leaf: calyx ratio, also causing stress to the plant. Only your own experiences will tell you what is right for you, because this debate has no end throughout the decades and that is why I laugh so.

I personally do not snip nor tuck. I just let be, and remove those leaves that wilt or dry to prevent mold. In growth I may remove more, but in flowering I let be.

...but like I said....hahahahahaha...lol

I leave my fans on till they die. IMO you should not ever take the big fans off unless it is absolutely needed. The plant needs those fans for flowering. The big fans store nutrients for the plants processing and immediate availability.

This is one of three SSH's I have. She is over 4 feet tall here. I trimmed off a lot of lower flowering nodes, but left the fans. They are still nice and green at day 40 of flowering. This will likely be a 90+ day pheno.
